Wearing a Patek everday

Hello,

My personal goal watch is a Patek Phillipe 5960p in Platinum with the grey dial and brown strap.

I currently have a Rolex Daytona as my daily watch, it's comfy and strong. It's scratched but that never bothers me as its made for handling any situation whether its formal or casual, gym or beach. After achieving(forceable future) my personal goal of getting a Supercar and Superwatch. The Supercars are meant to be used for special occasions or weekends(basically whenever the weather is great). However will the honeymoon effect with cars and watches be the same, I know if you drive a Ferrari on a daily basis it wont feel as special as an owner who reserves the car for special occasions (Bring the big guns out).

If I get a 5960p would it be advisable to use on a daily basis, how is the platinum to scratches. The SS of Rolex can be polished every-now and then and will look brand new.

I use my everyday. I am always cautious as to not bang it around or walk into a brick wall. I love it and super happy I got it.

As Brian did to me when I was thinking about getting it I will do to you.

I am afraid of scratching the buckle because I'm right handed and use my watch on my right wrist.

I think a dress watch with leather strap would work better for daily use than say a Nautilus due to all the steel surfaces that easily could get scratched up.

It looks better, I dont know why but the Nautilus looks too thick/huge.

I believe platinum is a tad less resistant to scratches than stainless steel but it's probably not that bad. I personally wouldn't worry about scratching the buckle as it's quite unlikely (there's not such a big surface on it to be scratched anyways) and my past with watches thought me that the best way to scratch a timepiece is to try too hard to avoid scratching it. Wear it and be happy to have such a masterpiece on your wrist, nothing that bad can happen!

I'm not getting one today or tomorrow, it's one of my midterm objectives and I am just trying to learn in advance.

It is perfect for everyday wear Mohammed! You will find that they are very wearable and super comfortable. I enjoy wearing my leather strap watches and get the most out of them. The only thing you won't do is wear to pool but that is what your Rolex is for! Cheers,

That I know about :) Thank you.

I dont want to own too many mediocre watches. My collection is enough for the moment (same applies to cars).

Right now I have 2 AP's, Rolex Daytona and a Panerai 339(great for the time being). I'd like to add a 4th watch it's going to be a Patek. I'm in the process of doing my own business with a group of friends(food industry), hopefully if all goes to plan and I do succeed (achievement) watch should be a Patek because it's the right moment for it.

The Patek Phillipe should be my last or the greatest of the collection need to focus on other stuff in life, work etc etc.

My hand is itching me, need to get the car of my dreams and the watch of my dreams off of my system for midterm so I can focus on the big picture.

I am looking around the sites can anyone explain to me its unique features. I know its a annual calendar chronograph.

Please post more pictures, I can only find a lot of brochure pics and a few owner or wrist pics.

Mohammed,

The Patek Philippe 5960 contains an annual calendar along with a chronograph and a day and night indicator. Its movement is actually the very first in-house automatic chronograph movement made by the company and it has a particular sub dial containing both the chronograph's minute and hour hand (sometimes nicknamed the bullseye subdial).

Here are some pictures of the platinum models, notice the diamond placed on the side of the case right under the 6th marker!

That would a nice trifecta! As for the VC--check out the Bi Retrograde Patrimony Day Date in WG. Just got one a few weeks ago and it is a super cool VC!!

What I had in mind is the Overseas Dualtime SS & Ti.

Really cant resist watches, I want a AL&S Datograph P & PP 5960p....I'd ditch the VC in a heartbeat.

To the OP you have good tastes! I read that you also like the world time? If so that would also be a great watch to buy for yourself! Best of luck in your new business!
