how does crystal fit in case?

Exactly how does a crystal fit into the case? pressed in? from outside? or from inside case? held in by bezel? -John

I think it's first pressed in and then firmly held in place by the bezel as well as some waterproofing gaskets.

Depends on the reference as I understand it. Some, GMT, Sub, etc.. use a crystal retaining ring. Others the bezel plays a part.

I agree.

I found this out when my 1680 Red Sub bezel fell off, and I noticed the crystal securely in place by the retaining ring.

Man, I'm glad it was at home.
