Hi. How can you tell? My wife now wants a ladies two tone yachtmaster with the gold bezel and I was looking at ebay. What would you look for on a ladies yachtmaster to determine whether it is a fake?

Thanks
DJ

Welcome DJ to TRF!
You must be very careful, there are so many fakes around.
Once again, forget about the too good to be true bargains and "buy the seller".

I`m sure that ebay will close it before the auction ends.

It's not obvious to me but I do notice the datewheel looking a bit skewed. It's hugging too much to the left.

There's a lot more wrong with the date than just having skewed numbers.

Fakes

Doesn't seem like reporting to eBay does anything. I bought a supposed SD link from a seller there who swore the part was genuine. When I got it, it was obvious that the part was a fake as was the screw. I photographed them and had to get in a altercation with the guy to get my money back. I reported all of this to eBay. A week or so ago, the same picture popped up. The seller had gotten so much bad feedback for his fake parts, he added another user name and re-listed. I reported this to eBay and was told (after a week) that it was not against their policy to use multiple user names under the same master account and since the parts did not bear any markings, it couldn't be proved that they were fake. As a previous poster stated, one must buy the seller but I naively expected eBay to protect other buyers.

eBay and Paypal take a combined commission of ~12% for each sale.
So I wouldn't be surprised if they ignored shady sellers.

I've sold many things on eBay, these shady sellers disgust me.

Also, I'd like to point out that eBay and Paypal are the same company.

This happens a lot.
Many months ago, I reported a crook selling fake vintage Rolex watches on eBay.
I gave ebay all the details (mails, usernames, ...) but they didn't do anything about it. I then reported the case to the local police. This is what they told me:"buyer beware". They probably have other more urgent things to do...

The only efficient way to stop this is via TRF
