So a friend shows me two Rolex's and I think hard...

So a friend inquires about one of my listings and beings to ask me questions about her own Rolex's. I said I couldn't offer any help unless I can see a picture of them. She said she was too lazy to take any up close shots and decided to give me an older pic that was taken a long time ago. She said she purchased them at an AD but I am left scratching my head very very hard. I personally think the watches look a bit funky. What is the TRF consensus?

Pic quality makes them look suspicious but I agree with you Marc.

Her pic is as fuzzy as her comment about being "too lazy" to take a new picture.
Everyone has a camera on their phone. Something doesn't sound right here.

Both your friend and the watches are funky.

Yea, I agree with everyone here. It's very hard to make a comment since the picture quality is abysmal.

This is a question that should be asked in the 'watchout section'....

Both watches are suspect to say the least!

Thread now moved!

Well, I feel she may have been genuinely duped years ago. Whenever you tell someone their things are fake, you can get a variety of reactions. When I told her that I had a nagging suspicion they were phonies, she became defensive. So instead of being aggressive about it, I told her that in her own time she could check a few things that I thought were off on the watch and things to look out for. She stayed adamant about the watches but that is normal for this circumstance. Who wants to be told their things are fake, especially when you are genuinely convinced they are real? Admittedly she said she does not know much about watches. I did the best I could to inform a friend, but at least I left her with some knowledge and perhaps she can find this fellow in the future and stuff the junk up his trunk. Thank you TRF with your responses!

I agree with BOTH of these gentlemen. Your 'friend' and her watches are both full of it.

What questions did she ask you???

If I follow the story here, she purchased them at an AD - therefore she could not be wondering about their authenticity.

I had a listing up for an older datejust oysterquartz which I sold. She thought It was the same as hers but described it very oddly. I doubted she knew what she was talking about by her generalizations, so I asked her to produce some photos so I can verify what she said. She gave me those pictures and said she think its the same as the 17000 and I said no. She was wondering how much her watches were worth and I said I could not begin to estimate as I need better pictures. She said she bought them for "a lot" of money and I left it at that. The next day, I looked closely at the pictures and noticed some things that might have been off, I then told her about my feelings and reasons for them and she got offended and said she couldn't have gotten fakes since she in her own words said, "I got it at the dealer. I also have the birth papers." She said they were purchased in 2008 and didn't want to tell me the first letter of the serial as she was again, too lazy to check the warranty or hang tags. She then quickly said gtg and never spoke to me about it again.

She didn't question the authenticity by posing a question to me, rather I was the one who approached her about the authenticity because from the fuzzy/grainy photos, it still looked a bit off to me.

No help here. I'd say fake based on one thing. Why would you ask a friend questions about your watch if you just had a pic. 1. Not serious, 2. Fake and didn't want you to see them. Also I think one is for sure suppposed to be a TT model and the gold looks really bad. Very bad.
