Is this a reference to (what we call in USA Veteran's Day) but is otherwise known as Armistice Day, 11hr of 11th day of 11th month..?

Is that flower supposed to be a poppy? (curious, I have seen various UK celebs wear them from time to time, notable Clarkson on Top Gear and some other broadcasters)

Same day (and hour), we just call it Remembrance Day.

Poppies are worn by many people in Canada at this time of year. Even my four year old kids wear them (I bend the end of the pin with pliers). In fact they also made paper poppies in kindergarten.

Here in the US, the best memorial that adults can display is to exercise the freedom our veterans protected and still protect: That is, to Vote each November.

I salute all who have served, and our current cadre of men and women serving today.
