5205 silver or black?

Hi guys,

trying to choose the dial on 5205. Silver or black? Appreciate if you can provide your opinion and why you prefer one over the other. Especially curious what the owners of 5205 think.

Thank you!

Carneige is the photo that you took when you visited your AD or are you still awaiting that pleasure?

Why don't you add a poll to this thread and see which way it goes.

No guesses for which way I will vote!! LOL

Topcat, yes, this is taken at an AD. I might create a poll but I would also like to know why do people prefer one over the other.

I prefer the black but it is a coin toss--both are pretty close and neither stands out from the other IMHO.

Well said Ken!

Both look great but I have a preference for the darker one.

It's obviously a matter of personal taste, but having seen them both in the metal, I prefer the dark dial version. In an unlimited PP collection, I could certainly find room for both, however.

Silver. Black requires more too much to read.

I preferred how the black dial looked on my wrist. This was taken at my last visit to my AD.

Silver. Put them both on and look at them in a mirror from around size feet away. The black dial disappears, the silver one pops. Both need to be worn with the same types of clothing, since they both have the black straps and relatively dark features, but the silver definitely pops more. This contrast pop makes it look more like a watch IMO...

Hello everyone,

Thanks so much for all your comments and photos! I really appreciate it. Your opinion is also divided. I realize it is a matter of taste but it really helps to know what the current owners think of their watches. The grey/silver looks kind of dull on the photos (you can't see silver in it, only grey) while black dial looks very nice. However, in person, the silver one looks different and much better than on the photos. I must say I am currently am leaning towards silver dial. Could silver dial owners post some photos or chime in more? Thanks very much!

Not an owner yet, but the 5205 silver is my grail. Agreed with some of you above, in person the silver has a lot of depth and looks great. One more vote here for silver!

Personal choice but I'd go for the black.

Good luck!

You really need to go to a boutique and look at them both around 6' from a mirror.

I don't understand your reasoning, what difference does it make what a watch looks like on your wrist from 6' away. The only person who benefits from that is someone else.

Surely, the owner needs to look at the watch/dial from a lot closer?
Say about 12"

It is currently 19.20 hrs and I am sitting in the lounge with just the Christmas lights and an open fire and the darker dial 5205G is perfectly legible.

Thanks Randy for your photos, the silver dial looks grey

Agreed, Mr. QC. Sometimes I'm quite pleased with a piece when I'm looking at it on my wrist. But then I look at my reflection in the mirror and think "Oh no, that's not what I want to look like at all, I need to take this off". Usually happens with the larger diameter cases, IMO.

Yep. The steel GO Inverse looked great on my wrist close up, but crappy from far away...
