5496P - Application Piece?

Just wondering if the 5496P is an application piece. Thanks in advance...

You have to "apply" for some of the Patek watch models through your AD. They are not stocked in the stores.

Ah yes. I knew they did this, but just didn't put it together until just now!

anytime kyung.

Generally the application pieces are
minute repeaters
celestials
perpetual calendar chrono's
of course the World Time with the enamel dial 5131
split seconds hand
Tourbillons

This would account for the majority of the application pieces

Looked at one of these mazing pieces, only this week, it was in the window of a Uk dealer.

And I had to call in anyway, so I asked to take a look. My watch friend, who was with me immediately fell in love with it. But then saw the price........and lets say that the watch is still for sale. LOL

Tried one on a couple of months ago and it's now my favorite Patek. Kind of a dressed down version of the 5159 with a very clean dial. It's on my short list!

Post pics if you buy it. I almost picked up the 5496P recently but decided on the Zeitwerk instead. A lovely looking piece IMO. I like that it doesn't have an aperture cutting across the retrograde date like the last few Patek perpetuals. A more elegant layout I think...

Actually it does--the leap year box cuts into the 5 in 15 and the 1 in 17 just like the 5159 and 5059. The only one that doesn't is the 5050. Not sure what you are speaking to?

All spectacular pieces IMHO!

Well, this one may take a little while, but I placed it on my long term list.

Ah, indeed it does. That is probably why I decided against it and was contemplating the 5050 at one point...

Though this is the version I liked (without the "automatic" written below the moonphase).

Kind of on topic but how many PP do you have to own to be considered? Or is it based on what you own?
