I have an SMP blue dial Bond that I have had for about 5 years. It is a great watch but I have never really liked the band. I have thinking about putting it on a leather strap. Is it sacreladge to put a black leather strap on it? If not what would you all recremend?

I have. It is certainly an option, but I would prefer leather though.

I just bought a shell cordovan leather strap from thetimetraveler.co. But haven't received it in yet. I also looked at horween leather. But honestly I drive myself crazy looking for the perfect strap for my speedy so I just pulled the trigger with time traveler.

Put it on whatever you like but Omega makes a zillion different rubber straps which will fit your watch. I hate the idea of dive watches on leather. Kinda like a race car with wooden tires

I'm particular to Hirsch straps myself. They have a few straps that are water resistant leather. One is called the Viscount and comes in black as well as blue to match your SMP (pictured below). Brown, black, blue would all look fine IMHO.
They make lots of different straps at all price points. Some get expensive, though, and at that point you may just want to get an OEM from Omega. If you decide to go rubber, Subversive is right that isoprane is great. Pic from hirschstraps.com EDIT Sorry, couldn't get the pic to upload for some reason. Here's a link instead. http://www.hirschstraps.com/HIRSCH-W...tor-Strap-BLUE Last edited by Cesium133; 22 January 2013 at 12:39 PM.. Reason: Picture |

Get it on a nice blue rubber strap. Don't get leather.

Rubber or nylon/composite straps, but no leather on a dive watch.
