Icon7 What should I get my girlfirend??

Hi

I have an upcoming wedding this fall and thought I would get my fiancé a Rolex as morning gift.

It'll be her first Rolex and I have no idea how she will react. She is not as interested in watches as me but I'm working on it and maybe this will change her mind

Im looking for a watch that she can wear every day, no matter if it's the ski slope, the sea or dressed events.

Im thinking a preowned Yachtmaster Midsize SS/Plat, 168622...

or ??

What do you think? Your thoughts are very much appreciated!

That is exactly what I bought my wife for her birthday. She wasn't too bothered about watches either but absolutely loves her YM. In my opinion it is the perfect watch for what you have described. Her is a wrist shot.

I think you could get her something more elegant, like a an Omega Constellation or a Cartier Tank F.

I'm going to get a 116234 with the white roman dial and jubilee bracelet for my wife, it looks great on her!

Two tone midsize or even now mens 36mm size Datejust with roman numerals always looks great on a lady and dresses up and down (Sport and formal). I like the YM but she may react to the name YachtMaster if she is not a sailor, and she may see it only as a sports watch. My wife has the watch I have described, but in the traditional small 26mm ladies size, which she loves but would now have preferred a 31mm or 36mm size. Just my opinion the YM looks nice as well.

Does it have to be a surprise?

If not, maybe it would be better to let her choose to take away the second guessing?

I know when I bought my wife a Rolex, I initially had in mind a Datejust with stick markers and a silver face. She much preferred the diamond markers with MOP dial! In the end, it was definitely better to get what she really wanted.

After all, if the Sub date* really, really sang to you above all else, would an Explorer* really play the same tune?

*watches chosen at random, nothing against the Explorer!

I was trying to convince my girlfriend that the mid size Yachtmaster was a nice watch for fair women for a year cos I saw a woman wearing it in a bookstore that time. She was indifferent. That was until she tried it on and she realized somehow she likes it and somehow it looks really good on her. If you know her well enough and you know the models well enough then you will know which to choose for her, whether she knows it or not :p

If she is an active person into sports then the mid size YM will be perfect. If she is not then I would say a mid size TT Datejust or even a nice steel model.

A Datejsut is good advice, and there is no reason why it would be any less robust than other other of the Rolex sport range.

36mm DJ, silver dial, diamond markers.
Hard to imagine any woman wouldn't like that.

My wife has an older 31 mm SS DJ with white dial/domed bezel with roman numerals and also a 26mm SS DJ white dial/fluted bezel with roman numerals. She

She really likes the Yachtmaster Midsize SS/Plat, it will be our next purchase! Mid-size yachtmaster is pefect size and the polished center links make it a very elegant watch, and the bezel gives it a sporty look at the same time.

We probaby will be looking to buy a pre-owned watch.

Good luck!

This is my advice. I decided on a Rolex for one of our anniversaries. I arranged with my local AD to pull several pieces aside for us and we casually went out for lunch and to stop in so I could look at watches. She had no idea we were going for her. I picked some nice watches, the YM, a DJ with diamond indices, one with mother of pearl etc.

She was overjoyed at the thought but when she tried them all on she immediately zeroed in on this one:

It was nothing like what I chose for her, but it was the one she loved more than all the others. She surprised me quite a bit and I am glad I let her choose it. I know her and know that if I picked a watch she just hated she would wear it and never say anything, but it would be a waste. This way she got the surprise of the watch gift but she was able to choose the model herself. We had a nice lunch and spent the day together to celebrate. It was a great memory.

I would think a lot would depend on her wrist size. Some women, my wife, have very small wrists and a larger watch doesn't look or feel right.

My wife has never wanted a Rolex. However the other day we were at our AD and she fell in love with the SS DJ, Silver jubilee diamond dial, fluted bezel, and oyster band! Buying it for her tomorrow! Great all around look for any day or night!
