Are you a strap addict?

So I've been spending way too much time looking at straps lately. The last time this happened a few years ago, I ended up with a box full of straps and even more Panerais (you of course need more watches when you have so many straps! ). It took me 4 months to purge all the straps (and most of my PAMs). Fortunately I caught myself and came to my senses last night after I ordered my third strap this week. I won't fall into that expensive trap again. You can buy a new Rolex on what some of us have spent on straps!

So how many is too many? Does 5 straps per size seem reasonable?

It's subjective, dude! One is enough, technically. I have a few for Rolex (10-15), some are not used... I stopped there. Can't speak for Panerai, as I don't have one!

Yeah I hear ya, stuff like that can get deep fast. In the short time I've had my PAM48, I now have 6 straps. I think 5-6 per watch should give a person as much variety as they need.

Ah come on, Vincent. With your taste for classic Rolexes, you're a prime candidate for a 1940 or 1950 cased Panerai!

For me, many have been the result of a learning curve and they sit unused. Specifically, I bought some crap ones until I figured out that you really do pay for what you get as well as figuring out what is comfortable, what I like and what looks and fits the best.

I have maybe 8-10 or so for my 422 but only really rotate maybe half those. If I had more than one Panerai I would be in big trouble.

I've got it pretty bad. 22mm, 24mm, 26mm, ammo, gator, rubber, NATO, ZULU.... they add up fast and between you and me..... I think the damn things are breeding when I shut the safe.

I have moments of strap binge buying. Just picked up two more 24mm for my 390 and I also have a watch with 22mm lugs inbound. Luckily, there aren't as many 22mm options for me to go nuts with.

I've tried to dig them, and I do a bit, but just not enough. They are cool, though. Very distinctive designs. Maybe one day, but I doubt it

Maybe 10 is a good number if you want to actually wear them all from time to time?

Of course, to get to 10, you probably need to go through at least 20.

Anyway, strap addiction is a major positive with PAM ownership and can be pretty exciting and time consuming (in a good way), so, it's all good.

Haha, don't even get me started... I am a Panerai guy so buying strap is like second nature to me. I probably have had over 200 straps (worth more than a Rolex or two) and probably slimmed that number down to about 60.

10 Kevin Ammos, 20 OEM, 5 Codmans, 2 Greg Stevens, Couple ABPs, 10 Simonas, list goes on a bit longer than that. Its an addicting hobby that Panerai watches have really fueled. I say keep the ones you love that fit you the best, I know youll get another 24mm lugged watch down the road at some point.

if i were you, Mike. i'd not need the extra straps....... because your watch collection is more than your straps anyway.

I find I'm drawn to getting a small number of the best (and most expensive) ones. I only wear about 2 straps per my Panerai. I need to sell off the ones I don't wear.

I am without a doubt but for vintage Rolex! Just ordered another today from Cristian Tonez in Italy for my cream rail 16550.

How can anyone live with less than a couple dozen straps! One day I'm gonna sell my straps to fund another Rolex. I just can't bring myself to do it while I still have a Panerai to stick them onto!

I have not grown fond enough of the straps to actually buy any, although I love looking at the.

Mike, lets see one of your solid golds on a strap!

I must be the odd guy here. I have a PAM 183 and 3 straps. Black Croc, Brown Croc and Assoluamente. I only seem to wear the OEM Black Croc. I find I am not much of a brown person and haven't worn the brown but a couple times. I found when I got the watch I did a lot of looking on here for straps. After the Black, I am satisfied. When I feel the need for a change, I just wear one of my other watches.

You use the watch case for the straps

They are both Piotr's.

They are so hard to get that I can't decide on whether or not to sell. I just look at them sometimes!

That's pretty much *exactly* what I did. 1 Panerai and perhaps 15 straps and only about 5 that I really wear.
