Replacing a Rolex case.

I can think of a few instances where you need to replace the case.
Question is, would this act decrease the desirability of the watch?

Would you buy a Rolex with a new case?

I bought my sub in "96". It has been serviced four times I think and it got a polish two or three times and the lugs seem thinner. I thought about a new case and was quoted about $2k.

Sounds about right, they are not cheap. Why some here adhere to the "no polish" rule at service time.

Agree and as long as you have the paperwork most all Rolex watches made after say 1988 many made in there millions it will have little or no effect on the value. And to change a case it will have to be really abused and not had proper service from its owner. And the amount of case changes by Rolex must be a very very very tiny proportion of the watches they produce.
