It's not just a flip of the dial right? The crown guard is different (actually flipped, instead of rotated 180 deg). Also, it comes stock with the Asso (probably 26/22?) instead of the Ranger.

In fact it is. The dial is flipped as is the crown guard. The case engravings are swapped on either end and voilà... Destro!

Moving crown/guard back and forward from right to left. Limit the production (no need really as I doubt they'll sell them all). Proven PAM strategy.

I still think this "372" design is a winner, I just wish it was a 44mm case to it be better for everyday wear.

Many would see this as Panerai's milking process. After all, it's a money making business to all manufacturers and it would be little rough for them to only cater the collector's needs. More variants isn't a bad thing.

I still think this is a cool looking 47mm destro.

I asked by the way and was told in the Panerai Boutique that the lefthanded version will be with sapphire not plexi ...

It's nice enough, but imho seems to be creating a new model simply for the sake of it.
I can't imagine many would-be 372 customers were put off by the lack of a destro version

hahaha, as i expected.

its easy to make panerai new design.

just choose the dial from article A and take the hand of article B and becoming a new model.

add the date becomes a new model

add the polish crown guard and tobacco dial becomes a new model

add the gmt function becomes a new model.

add the gold hand becomes a new model.

flip the crown guard to the left becomes a new model.

make a closed case back with limited edition series becomes a new model.

change the LUMINOR PANERAI writing and change to Luminor Marina, add the second hand, and it becomes a new model

make the gold case, it becomes a new model

change the crown guard from 1950 T.M to classic crown guard or radiomir it becomes a new model.

change the diameter to 42,44 or 47 becomes a new model. and so on.

I love it! I was in the Beverly Hills Panerai boutique today and saw the 372. I love the watch and as soon as I saw it I started thinking how great a Destro version would be..then I saw this thread! I see how some may think it's a little too plain or predictable but I'd love to get one.

i kind of meant the "revolutionary" comment to be tongue-in-cheek. i mean, OP has been at this particular "new model" game since the late 1990s. no big surprise.

and look at rolex with the countless combinations of dials and bezels for the DJ or the various TT/gold/SS options for sports watches. slight variations are part of the passion, not a sign of being boring, IMHO.

anyway, the destro is part of OP's history, so, not that big of a deal that they made a destro 372. and, heh, at least it wasn't announced actually at SIHH!
