Looking for watch suggestions with a $3500 budget

One of my friends wants to surprise her fiance with a watch as a gift. She is set on getting him a BNIB watch, something automatic with metal bracelet. She asked me for suggestions on any recommendations for a watch around her budget of $3500. This would be retail prices as she wants to buy new and does not want to buy anything online.

Also she is adamant about this being a complete surprise, so she would like to buy retail so that she can exchange the watch if necessary.

Anyways, with that $3500 price range in mind, the only watches I could think of were the new Tudor Black Bay Blue or Omega Speedmaster Professional. At least, these would be the watches I would look to buy for myself with that budget!

Can you guys suggest anything else?

Btw, I don't know much about the guy except that he is in finance and works on Wall Street. Thank you!

Since she looks for automatic BNIB I think Speedmaster may be out as the model that fits the budget is manual.

How about Tudor Black Bay? Is that an option?

If she was ok to go the used route more options would open up including IWC and other brands.

The Speedmaster or Tudor are excellent. At that price point One of the Ball Hydrocarbons might be an option. Amazingly strong, COSC, and Tritium.

Depends on what he likes.

That is a lot of money for a total surprise, I would only do this if there is a return policy in force.

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions, looks like the Speedmaster Pro is the clear winner! I kinda had a feeling that would be the response I most commonly received.

Seamaster is also an option I wasn't considering, will look into that.

I did think about a Pelagos as well but I think his wrist is too small for one. As for the Tudor heratige chrono, I think the design is so wild that it may be a hit or miss.

Tudor Black Bay, Pelagos. If he like the colour Blue or burgundy. With the Tudors he can switch things up with his bracelet if he gets tired of the metal strap. He can go NATO. I like That option.

I love Omega myself I've owned half a dozen. If you are not keen on going that route Oris is another watch line to consider, they make titanium divers and chrono's and all are comfortably at or under your budget.

I don't think the speedy is waterproof, that may be a concern based on lifestyle. Can't beat the SMP 300
