Explorer II polar or IWC Big Pilot?

I'm considering a Big Pilot and flipping my 216570 for it. Anybody have a Big Pilot?

Polar! Rolex holds its value better, plus more classic design will look timeless. IWC will look dated faster. And I am an IWC owner and fan.

Well...I don't have the IWC Big Pilot. Because...it's so BIG!

I think the Explorer II is the better of the two anyway - and more reasonably priced.

Depends on the pilot... I don't care for the red on the day indicator. But if it's the all black and grey, and your wrist can support this mammoth, I'm taking the classic bp...

Always choose ROLEX over iwc.

There is really no comparison...

If you must have a pilot watch, go for one of the much less pricey boutique brands.

But never iwc over ROLEX...

I think the BP is a very cool piece, but it really big and wears big. If you can get away it, go for it.

Otherwise the Polar is a classic.

The BP is very popular in my office. 2 owners on my floor alone. Both owners swear by them and wear them to the office daily. Additionally they own multiple Rolex pieces.

Explorer II polar or IWC Big Pilot?

The IWC BP is a very appealing timepiece, for a couple of weeks, then you will look at other brands of watches.

And after the merry-go-round, find yourself back to Rolex.

Been there, done that. Just my humble opinion.

I think the big pilot is a classic. Has cool history dating back to 1940, albeit reintroduced in 2002. The polar is also a classic with great history and a more preferable case size for my taste.

If you offered me either today for free, I'd have a hard time deciding.

Edit: didn't see you were losing the Rolex to add the BP. If that is your only SS Rolex, I'd have a tough time letting it go.

Another vote for the explorer 42 mm white dial. It's an awesome piece. Good luck.

I'd say it definitely depends on what you have in your current collection. If you have another Rolex that you wear more but no IWC in your collection, I'd do that trade.

Keep the Exp 2!!

I will never go for IWC over Rolex. The only watches that I will give up a Rolex are the Pateks, but even that is a hard choice.

Icon6 Big pilot!!!

I sense you really like the BP so I say go for it.... with gusto! The 216570 is a cool watch but I'd prefer the BP except it is too big for my wrist. If your wrist can support the 46mm (or is it 47mm?) the I say get it!

Unless you've got good-sized wrists, the BP is waaay too big.

Keep the Exp II.

10000% agree.

I would only trade ROLEX into PATEK or AP. That's it.

ROLEX into iwc? Absolutely not.

I would only add the BP to the 216570. The Exp is much more wearable.
