BLNR- Can't decide

Hey all, so i've been strongly considering a BLNR. When I see it in photos I think it looks absolutely spectacular... but then when I saw it in person at an AD, it seemed to me that the blue looked a lot more purplish then blue. Moreover, i noticed that the GMT hand blue doesn't really match the bezel blue and that bothered me a little. Does anyone else notice these things or might it just be the lighting in the AD's store? Part of me really wants to sell a few things off and take the plunge, but then when it came down to it, I just wasn't sure if I would get tired of it or not...

Anyone else feel the same way? Thoughts?

I did notice that the blue on the bezel does have a purplish hue to it on certain lighting/angles. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful looking watch.

But if it's not singing to you, then probably it's not the right watch for you.

I don't see purple.

Must be the lighting.

i think its a bit indigo in certain lighting...i tried to resist but couldnt and should have an incoming soon....

i will figure out what to do with my current LN GMT...im hoping one or the other will assert its dominance but i fear i will have issues letting either one go because (even though essentially the same watch) they appeal to me in different ways

You see that shade of blue looks perfect to me... I wonder if its just the lighting at the AD???

Ask them to let you take it out in daylight. They should be able to do that.

No purple from where I'm standing! It's a very cool reference.

Yeah get it out in the sun if the AD isn't too uptight about it. The watch is a no regret purchase for me:

I think it is awesome watch, but I agree that the blue looks closer to purple. I still came close to buying one last december, but went with the hulk instead.
Now am saving like a crazy man for the new pepsi. Going to be hard to pull off, but that is the gmt to get.

I'm not in the market for one so haven't analyzed it that closely but I'm guessing it's the lighting. It just seems logical to me that whatever blue Rolex came up with for the bezel, they would mix a paint for the hand that matched it. Also consider that the ceramic bezel has a way of changing shades depending on the light and the angle that light is hitting it. This is true for all the ceramic bezels including the straight LN, which often has a grayish aspect to it. So no matter how well matched they actually are the bezel and the hand will often look a bit off I'm afraid.

But if it's just not calling to you when you see it in the flesh don't pull the trigger unless you have silly money.

I felt the same way when I first saw it in person. Got it and now love it. There's so much love for this watch for a reason.

tough call. from experience, if i see it, like it, look to buy it and eventually still not buy it within a month (ballpark), i'm not fully sold on giving it a shot at the register. however, i've still loved and lost more than kept watches. it never ends...

i think it looks great.

that said, i have run it by my extended peanut gallery.

not one person has given me the thumbs up. that has never happened to me before.

they all dislike it.

i get it, most people on here do not get it for other people. they get it for themselves.

but i like to listen to my peanut gallery.

It's a great watch and it hits every shade from black to blue depending on the lighting. A definite for any collection.

Not once did I ever see the bezel turn to purple or purplish. Always blue.

But you may get bored, a common reason why the black models are moved on.
