It's still on Omega's site. Story has it that only 3,000 were made, though.
It has the Lemania Cal. 1874, manually wound movt., beating inside, btw.! The sapphire crystal is both domed AND cambered, plus AR coated on the inside. This model also has a see-through sapphire crystal caseback.

So it's quite rare and this means that they are quite pricey

That is a good looking watch..
I've never understood the "need" for a moon-phase watch, but it sure looks cool to see it crawl across the dial........

What do you think of the white/blue version?
This is a quote regarding it: "This is a rare watch as it has been discontinued and only about 3000 were ever made. It has a solid 18K whitegold bezel."

The white's cool, too, Ren!
I'm just not a big fan of the arrow hands, but that's just me.

I LOVE that! I really want a clear caseback Speedy. I see the date is also displayed around the moonphase which is a plus with me. Very nice.

What I like about it is the classic Tricompax arrangement of the subdials, the way it's branded ("Omega" inside the subdial at 12) and especially the old-style acryllic bezel insert!

Off topic
If people manage to proove or accept that we never went to the moon imagine what kind of negative impact will have that on the marketing strategy of the moonwatch

These are going for a bit over $3,000 new from online resellers. This is a very reasonable price when you consider that the sapphire sandwich model sells for around $2200 or more. The information that I've read states that only 3,000 of the Moonphase models were made, but I don't know if that is for both the white dial and the black or just one.
Anyway, I have the black model coming my way soon... Like Tools says, I have no use for the moonphase. It's just cool to look at. Picture shamelessly stolen from TZ:

Isn't there a similar model with a second time zone?

I don't think so, Eddie. But I do remember an Omega that I had a look at in Selfridges in London in the mid 1990ies. It was a modern Speedmaster Date(subdials at 6, 9 and 12), including a moonphase. As far as I remember, there was a 24-hour (AM/PM) indicator in the subdial at 9.

Wow,that`s a beauty!Both watch an the movement.
I had regular Moonwatch for a short time, model with caliber 1861,and it was a really great watch, almost accurate as quartz.I missed the date function,so I sold it and bought vintage Rolex OP Date...But that`s another story. |

Bo,
This was the one I liked. I thought I saw one like this with moonphase but can't find it - must have been a senior moment. Which I am allowed to have if I want to.

That's not a Speedy Pro, just another common Valjoux model.

Do you mean common as in replica?
Ashley let my try on his 3573.50. It is big compared to the 40mm SS.

I mean that it's common because it has no history and is a "Speedmaster" by name only. The automatic Speedmaster line (not including the true Broad Arrows) are OMEGA's commonest models that are readily available and most heavily discounted.
From that picture, the Pro makes the Daytona look tiny. In real life, though, the Pro doesn't appear too much larger than 40mm Rolex models.
