Omega service problem

I dropped my seamaster planet ocean off for service on 6/11. I was told it would take about 6 weeks for service. I called yesterday to check on it and am now being told it won't be done until August 20th. I find this unacceptable. Has anyone else experienced this excessive service time? I know when I had my older seamaster serviced it took about 8 weeks but not close to eleven. Why can't they get it right? Every Rolex I've had serviced has been completed early or on time. Omega needs to get their act together. Just venting.

No it's not fun, it's why a lot of watch owners are turning to independent watchmakers for service. Ostensibly your watch as been sitting on a shelf somewhere waiting for weeks in line for someone to start working on it, infuriating!!

I'm not sure if this makes you feel better, but it took 4 months for my watch to be serviced from Omega.

That probably does NOT make him feel better.

Mike, I brought my AT to the NYC service center and it took about as long as they estimated, around six weeks. Sorry you're having a bad experience. It sucks to be without a watch for that long.

If they know they're not even going to get to it for several weeks, they should put you on some sort of list and have you drop it off when your number comes up.

Always a backlog. It takes a few months, kinda how these things work.

The Boutiques are usually the fastest way to get service done since they have their own Omega-only service center in Seattle and get highest priority. I hope you get yours back soon!

The Boutique called the morning of July 14th to say that my FOIS had returned and was ready for pickup.

I left it at the ATL Boutique on Thursday, June 26th so 18 days from start to finish. Not bad.

I was told that the Seattle service center gives priority to the Boutiques; ergo, faster service.

Bottom line: if a Boutique is convenient, take your watch there for service or repair. They will ship it off to the Seattle center or in some instances use their in-house watchmaker.

You are right. The watch belongs on a wrist not a shelf.

My SMP went in for its first service end of Feb - it was 1 week over what the quoted which OK. Watch was never the same when back.

Went back to the original servicer - no fault found
I carried out a whole raft of tests & found the watch not charging on my wrist. They've basically turned an automatic into a manual wind ..............
Now into the local boutique to see if any comeback on the omega warranty

I'm not sure what people's expectations are on the turn around time for service on their watch are but I guess I'm used to watch manufacturers taking a "long" time to complete any work. I've had several watches serviced by reputed watch manufacturers and it took anywhere from 2-6 months to get my watch back. I guess it just boils down to what your expectations are.

I agree that the watch company should stick by their first estimate for the time of completion for the work, but like I said it all depends on your expectations. Call me jaded but I usually expect months to pass by before I get my watch back, regardless of what I'm told initially.

Had a JLC Perpetual Alarm in for service, not only it cost $2100 (it did need some work, not just a routine service), but the estimated time for repair was 50 weeks. Suck on that one for a bit, and stop complaining about a 2 month turnaround time for a luxury timepiece . It is a mechanical precision mechanism, would you want the service on it 'rushed'? I would rather it be done right that fast.

I hear you however i don t think it s acceptable , companies are economize on repair staff which makes so long leadtime ,they are just greedy or can t get trained people for the service dept.

I don t talk about vintage pieces specially where some parts must be refabficated , that s an other story.

I forgot to mention that I was initially told that the repair would be completed and the watch returned by July 23rd. So the Seattle center beat their estimate by nine days.

I do not get into ATL that often (thank God) so it will this Tuesday, the 29th, when I get by the Boutique to retreive the watch.

Icon6 Seattle service center?

When the Seattle service center is mentioned, do you mean it's an Omega service center or are you referring to Nesbit's?? Thanks..

BTW, the center supervisor is a member of the Nesbit family.

I am in the same boat. Dropped off my AT at the Scottsdale Boutique on 6/21. They are estimating a return date of 9/4. For me, I'm glad it's only a rare occasion for them to have to do a full service/repair. Just gotta be patient. I feel a bit naked without though!

Just a thought, maybe shop for a new piece while you wait?

I love my Rolex watches and they get 99.9% of my wrist but I've really wanted the planet ocean and got a good deal on it. I dropped it off for service the day it arrived so it only spent a minute on my wrist. I'll just have to wait.

I haven't had any service experience, however, I did contact Omega directly with a question and felt that I got a generic response. I wish you the best with any issues you are having.

You have inspired me. All this time on the omega thread has worn me down. I have and older model stainless bezelled seamaster but always wanted the blue insert/ dial 007 combo. Placed the order last night. Hope it's legit. I hit a great deal. Only time will tell.

Update. Yesterday was a big Omega Day for me. Got the call that my watch was ready (8 weeks to the day) and my James Bond Seamaster arrived. The watch although being legit, was advertised as automatic but ended up being quartz. For the price I paid it's still a good deal, but I'd rather have the automatic. I'm picking up the. PO today. Pics soon.
