I'm soooo fat!!!!

I've been bulking for months on my current bodybuilding routine. I went from 172 lbs to 195 lbs and have gained quite a bit of muscle, but of course a lot of fat.

That's all...

My oldest brother does this before shows. Then he does lean protein to drop below 4% body fat. Can't be healthy, but looks great when he does it!

Yeah. I'm nowhere near pro-level in my build, but I definitely have a decent build going after two bulks and one cut. Just have to keep the pattern up. I'm making such good gains I don't want to stop even though I'm at nearly 20% body fat, after starting out at 13%...

He tells me the lean protein helps retain as much muscle as possible while dropping the fat. I am sure you knew that, but really just posting it for those not exposed to the routine. It's really interesting what it takes to to end up "sculpted" (my term for what he does!).

Boy I miss my BB'ing days! I'm only 35 now but shoulder issue had me slow down.

Loved the feeling when you see yourself grow and progress, not an easy sport and the diet is 24/7 well done fella.

Came in expecting pictures, left disappointed.

And I'm pretty sure it's not that bad, as long as you don't go full Lee Priest you'll be just fine.

Looking forward to seeing/reading more about it my friend.

Dropping below 5 % body fat is very dangerous! Even professionals who "know what they are doing" don't drop much below 5 % and that would be for a very brief period of time during competition. I've never heard of anyone dropping below 4% body fat. I hope your brother is very careful

That what I recall, but I'll ask him if I got the % wrong. I know I don't see any on him before a competition and he's hard as a rock head to toe,but it's totally possible I am remembering incorrectly.

Join the 21st century, cutting and bulking has been over for at east 20 years.

I eat a tight diet and change my routine every two weeks to keep the body shocked, I've gone from 190 to 214lbs in 3 years doing this

It's not a clean bulk, but not exceptionally dirty either. I get at least 1 gram of protein per pound if body weight and sometimes as high as 1.5. I get around 1.5 to 2 grams of carbs per pound, and the rest is fat.

I do a little carb loading sometimes when I am feeling sluggish. I also use a Garmin 910xt to monitor what I am burning so I can maintain at least a 500 calorie over maintenance diet.

I probably have 250 to 400 calories of junk food a day.

Maybe someday. I like having periods where I can eat whatever I want...

I make the same gains, but I get months where I eat M&Ms, sour Skittles, movie popcorn, Five Guys..... Mmmmmm.... LOL!

He corrected me and said 7% is the lowest he'll go, although some pros and "wannabe pros" will go lower than that. I've been telling people 4 for most of my life!! He also added that "Glutes get striated at 3% and below". I'll have to look that up, but it doesn't sound desirable.

Hey Q, I know a thing or 2 about this subject... Clean up your bulking diet a hair. No need to jump to 20% bf to try to put muscle on. Lmk if you have any questions or need some help.

Yes, it's very possible to get below 5%, I've done it MANY times and I'm still here wearing my Rolie and AP ;-)

I'm thinking about it. Despite my diet being around 3000-3200 calories a day, I'm not gaining a lot of weight anymore...

When bulking the goal is to gain muscle while minimizing fat gain. To do this you eat in a small caloric surplus of about 200-300 calories. Try and aim to gain a lb a week or so. Anything more than that is just fat. Its impossible to gain more than 2lbs of lean mass a month unless ur on gear or working out for the first time. Im a certified personal trainer shoot me a pm if you have any questions
