5167 vs 5164 - thicker? heavier?

Hey guys, most threads about the two aquanauts refer to the 5164 being slightly heavier and thicker. Since it's been difficult to find them both out in the wild - does any know how much thicker and heavier? Or is it so small, it's negligent? I know a couple of people on the forum have both - what are your thoughts? Did you get the 5167 as a daily wearer and the 5164 more for business and travel?

Thought you bought 5167 (40mm case)...you'll love it. 5164 (40.8mm case) is not much different.

the 5164 is quite a bit thicker.
There is also more space between the dial and the crystal which I like kind of like the 5980 does on the nautilus compared to a 5711.

They are both great watches and wouldn't consider weight as a factor as they are both light obviously the 5167 being a bit lighter :)

Have you tried either watch on? Any chance they can hold the 5164 for you until the 5167 comes in so you can see what you like best? Your AD knows he has a guaranteed sale so he might be willing.

I have owned both. On paper the differences don't appear to be that significant....a few grams extra of weight and a few extra millimeters in height. On the wrist though it is noticeable. I personally liked the dimensions of the 5164 a little more because it provided a more substantial feel.

Long story short - before committing that kind of capital to either you owe it to yourself to try both. Better now than trying to flip one for the other later. Trust me...I learned this lesson the hard way!

Personally as much as I like my 5164 I wish it was bigger so 5167 would be a step in the opposite direction

If you want hefty, feel lucky that God has give you the choice to buy APROO, if you want a an elegant sport watch then feel lucky as well because God allows you to choose an Aquanaut or a Nautilus.

Cheers !!

...and there is probably reason they have a 5164 now vs 5167 which is more challenging to find

Seriously, only you can decide--for me I prefer the date in the window vs on sub dial (too hard to read).

I also don't do a ton of international travel for work anymore (thank goodness), so dual time not needed.

I was in Scottsdale last week and Hamra had both. If you happen to be in that area.

You should check with the AD in Highland Park who had both a little while back.

The weight difference is negligible, especially with the rubber straps on both. They are both super light in weight. The thickness is about a 1-2mm difference. The 5167 has a clean traditional dial with the day marker at 3 o'clock. It is a classic watch just like a Calatrava or a basic Nautilus (3700/3800/5800/5711). The 5164 has the day marker in a subdial at 6 o'clock and is quite difficult to read, unless you spend a few seconds looking carefully at the day marker. Having said that, the ability to change the hour hand forward and backward is convenient when traveling across time zones.
