patek 5712r or 5980/1r

Please let me know your views on would it be mistake trading in a recently purchased 5712r for a 5980/1r.
This would mean letting go of two others pieces, is the really worth the cost of three to end up with one.

218206 traded for 5712r

Why do you want to trade?

But yes a 5980 on bracelet is sweet!

"Mistake" is a relative term. If losing any money isn't an issue then I like the 1r better.

I like the 5980 better than the others and it's a trade I would do if I wanted it bad enough.
Question is, will you be ok parting with what you would have to give up?
Do they see much wear or do they spend a lot of time in the box?

patek 5712r or 5980/1r

If you are not particularly attached to the others, and the opportunity to purchase a 5980/1r doesn't come around that often, then I would make the trade.

Is difficult to make decisions when emotion/excitement is involved with a time frame. How long have you had the 5712R?
I went through honeymoon phase with it, then I thought of trading it and now I can't get it off my wrist. You could buy the 5980/1r and potentially go in a similar path. At the end of that path you will conclude one of two things: a) It was so worth it or B) it wasn't worth it.
I think is a hard decision, I would add that selling wise, it's easier + loose less money when selling the 5712R than the 5980/1r. But it won't matter if you conclude A).

Good luck,

I would make that trade if I were in that position. Never mind what was lost in gaining the 5712, it is history and we all have it.

Tough one, I am a huge fan of all gold Rolexes but maybe the full gold Nautilus is just too much for me, maybe, but if not for you then I would go for it.

do u really prefer the 5980 over the 5712? its a choice u have to decide because both pieces are amazing..

if u feel ur inclined towards the 5980/1r then 2nd step would be to think, r u okay selling 3 for 1.. if your answer is 5980/1r over 5712r then i wouldnt think twice about selling the other 2 watches.. go for it

in order to get the 5980r the other two would need to go,
5980 is an amazing watch that will be worn, a great brand and i cant think of a better full rose but the trade leaves only few in the collection. what about resale value and time scale on such a experience piece?
is there any signs of increases in the pipe lines or being discontinued, this may sway me.

My concern with the 5980/1r, or any gold Nautilus would be bezel scratches since it's softer than steel. Strangely, it's rare that I see any photos of gold Nautilus's here with hairlines. Do people have felt sewn to the inside of their shirt cuffs? lol

light surface scratches shouldn't be nothing to worry about. would be such a shame to keep it locked for that reason.
