Rolex bubbleback 6084

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-OYSTER...item4629e37f30

Hi all, I saw this bubbleback on ebay. The price is so attractive, but the is not original Rolex, so I want to know this watch is worth it or not? Thanks a lot.

Mostly those watches came on leather straps anyway. The bracelet is 25-50 usd aftermarket.

The watch head itself is a decent example and the dial is very very good and very desirable original waffle or honeycomb dial.

The 6284 is less common than the previous 6084 with the Super Oyster Crown.
This is more desirable to me because of the removable bezel (better seal at the crystal) and the screw down crown.

It's not an unfair price considering the dial and all of the above. A little on the top side maybe.

You'd like to pay less but it's not completely out of line imho.

You could "pick" it...the rotor has some corrosion...(many do) they aren't serial numbered at this point so you can get a better one if it bothers you.

The case polish is a little "rolly" but that too could be cleaned up by one of the good polishing entities but I've seen a lot worse.

If you like it and it sings to you...you're not going to get hurt too bad on it.

If you had to sell it the next day you might lose a little but not much.

On these watches I would say the dial trumps everything else. A more normal dial...knock 500 0ff.

The watches use a calibre 645 which is the shock resisting version of the 630. It's a good runner and generally keep better time because they have not had staff replacements as many times throwing the balances out of poise.

The autowind is a little less complicated and gives less trouble but you MUST keep it serviced regularly or the lack of lubrication will break the double springs, & rotor axle spring.

I wonder why in the authenticity card it says this has 3035 caliber. That's age's newer movement.

I was curious too but I looked a little further. The Authenticity cert is a SAMPLE.

I don't think so with that dial.

1k - 1200. with a refin or a lesser original. With an original waffle I don't think you'll buy one that cheap.

I bought a 6284 a couple of months ago, checked at that time and did not see any over $1,500. And majorityAround $1k-1,200
Did find a couple over $2,000 this time though.
I always check the least they go for and not the most, seldom am I the guy that gets top dollar on ebay.

Good finds I looked but I was looking at 6084 by mistake..The first one is a good price and you're absolutely on the money. I think it could bring more on a different week. Actually I checked and it sold for 1231.00

The second one..for 1250.???? Where do you see what was paid? It said best offer accepted but you can't see the price paid, or at least I can't find it That's a full set watch. He was asking 2599.00....?

The last one is a gold cap and really it's worth LESS not more than stainless. It also isn't sold. Somebody would likely buy that one and steal the dial and hands. I would.

I think the watch in question as I said is at the top of the market and a bit high, but if he really likes it, it's not unreasonable. I guess it's a percentage thing. I just think anytime you are spending under 2k you've got a lot of wiggle room if it's really singing to you.

I subscribe to Terapeak, and they show the actual realized price

But papers make up for it for me. I would be willing to swap dials, with a good one.

Best thing to do would be buy it....and buy the gold cap...steal the dial and hands...and sell the leftover bits :-)

Papers are a plus for me on a watch of that vintage.

Very uncommon.

I think I looked at that watch and decided I didn't want it enough to hassle with it. Papers always suck me in however on the old ones.

Using this definition:
Has a watch collection that equals the cost of a new 911 but drives a GEO Metro;

Was at a tag sale, saw the ladies Omega, so I thought well worth $10, get in line to pay, looking through the bag I found the Weems, Ka-ching.
Works fine, great shape.
