Buyer with zero posts
Hello All!
Have three new members here asking for my contact information with zero post. Should I give it out to them? I refused two not too long ago…and now one more. Thanks

I would not share that info under the circumstances that you describe. Stick with PMs here and if they want to do a deal, I'd handle it via paypal. I've done over a dozen buying and selling transactions here and freely exchanged requested information. But all where with trusted sellers with references or established members.
I just completed a deal where I purchased a watch from an individual. He asked me for references. Even though I've been here for years, I'm no celebrity. So I was in no way insulted. And ended up with a nice watch and a new friend. Someone with zero posts is going to have a tough time in the reference department.

No. They need to have a decent post number, IQ number, Credit number, or sleep number. Or it could be a scam. Maybe not, but why take the chance?

I have a single bank account solely for these transactions. The account is in a bank in which I have no other accounts or funds. This account is also the one linked to my Paypal account. I use it for PP and wire transfers. Money in to wire out, money out ASAP after it is received. Also, my PP email and the one that I use here are for this only. I still get references.

If they can provide identifying information, user names and references from other online sources that check out, why not? Keep in mind that search engines such as Lionseek and others often turn up TRF sales ads. Sales to just TRF members seems rather limiting.
Thankfully a member here looked past my low TRF post total and accepted my inquiries. We both had a perfect transaction. |

Some of the best deals I've done have been with people with zero or low post counts. Some may just register so that they can get in touch e.g. if PM is the only way. Just because an individual has a high post count does not guarantee that a deal will go smoothly.
Common sense and due diligence are of course paramount.

I sold a Perrelet Seacraft a couple months ago on WUS to a guy who joined just to PM me about the watch. After asking him a couple quick questions it was easy to find the guy with a google search. I asked if I could call him at work. He said sure. I did, we had a 5 minute conversation and the transaction was very smooth.
I guess I'm just adding to what others have said. Ask a few good questions and there is no reason not to sell to some one new. I'd probably want to get wire though. I did with that Perrelet. |

I've also used LinkedIn and done the work verification thing when selling to a low post count member. If someone is into watches but not into forums, they can generally ask the right questions and are willing to work with you on verifying their identity. I only do wire transfers so my downside risk is covered, but I still feel it's important to do your due diligence as a seller to verify who you are dealing with.
