Your Mission...should you choose to accept it

is to help me find watches that resemble (as much as possible) the Patek 5970 Grand Complication.

I am absolutely in love with this watch but just can't bring myself to drop 140K on a pre-owned one. Maybe one day but for now, I will just get something that looks similar to itch the scratch.

The watch needs to have that classic dial design with a minimum chronograph complication but more is good too. It also needs to have flat pushers.

I've seen some vintage Gallets and Universal Geneve that might work. Something with the Lemania chronograph movement would be great too.

So, share with me your watch knowledge and show me your suggestions!

You won't find a PC Chrono though but plenty of nice watches out there. Best of luck and happy hunting. Here is a picture of the only watch I own that resembles a 5970R.

I agree there is nothing that comes close to the 5970 but just soliciting help to find anything out there. I looked at JLC's didn't find anything that works for me.

I do like the A. Lange & Sohne Datograph (not the Grand Complication version) as an alternative.

That is a pure chrono though. Do you want a PC or a Chrono as a PC chrono will run you a whole lot and you are better off just getting 5970. If just chrono I would get a 5070 in any metal all day long over Dato. What about IWC PC? They make some very good looking ones.

I realize that there is really no good alternative when it comes to CHRONO AND GC complications. I would settle for just chrono with flat pushers. And would even go vintage. I am not looking for just GC.

I know 5070 is very well liked and especially now that it is discontinued...but it just doesn't do anything for me.

Alternatively, I might just sell 90% of my collection and get the 5970 and wear it everyday.

Good choice as to me it is the best watch ever made and if I only could have one it would be the one I kept.

Vacheron Malte Perpetual Chrono in Platinum can be had for less than half the price of a 5970R/G/J. Very good looking watch too, I think it may even use the use Lemania base, but I may be wrong on this.
