Nautilus bezel
Hi guys, I hear all the time that Aquanauts and Nautilus are scratch magnets and when the bezel is very scratched it doesn't look nice at all, so my question is simple, since for me polishing a watch is heresy, does anyone know the price for a bezel for Aquau's and Nauti's?
Thanks in advance |

If it is a nauti or and aquanaut, I would polish.

I don't know, I have a real problem with polishing a watch, at the same time if it's just the bezel I guess it can take 1 maybe 2 polishings from Patek and still look good, but not more I'm sure if more tha 2 it will look not super, and that's just the bezel, as the bracelet and parts of the case are too thin to polish even once IMO

They don't look good at all once they're scratched, my opinion. It stands out like a sore thumb. I think every now and then at service time it's ok to do, especially by Patek. They remove such a small layer that I think it would take awhile before the watch would look run down.

I agree they don't look good scratched, which is why I don't use my Nautiluses (Nautili?) for daily wear. Most of the photos I see of them on TRF look like brand new - so it seems that I'm not alone in this regard.

Pretty sure you have 2-3 polish by patek before it is of concern. Don't stress over it, if you can afford a 25k watch, you can afford 1-2 k or the bezel :) when it is needed

What's the big deal polishing a modern stainless steel watch, especially if it's done by Patek. I thought the it was only faux pas to polish a gold or platinum watch for fear of losing precious metal, and vintage Rolexes (they're mostly scratched up anyway.)

If it's only the face of the bezel (the brushed part) there shouldn't be any problem as long as there aren't any deep scratches or dents. A few passes on an abrasive surface will clean it up.

It's not such a big deal really. I suddenly got a couple of scratches on my gold AP ROC but after a few days I didn't care much about it altho I did ask AP how much a polish would be. I may still do it but no rush. For AP you can polish 3/4 times without losing integrity so I imagine PP is the same.

Patek Philippe is the kind of company that will only replace the bezel at service if it is completely FUBAR. I doubt you could even get a quote on inquiry (which would be to Patek via an AD). |

Am I missing something here? Although I don't claim to be an expert here, on both the Aquanaut and the Nautilus there is no "bezel".....it's just all part of the watch case. As such, I wouldn't think that replacing a scratched bezel is an option unless you opted for an entirely new case - which Patek may not even offer?
Am I reading/interpreting you guys wrong? |

Nautilus bezel
Wow! You learn something new every day. Thanks...I did not know that.
Does the same apply to the Aquanaut? |

Well I don't know how it works but maybe one day it will be possible to use it on an existant watch, of course it would be great if the big brands used it or something else, I'm not too scratchaphobic but it would be super if my 5712 was almost scratchless even after a few years
