Mash

I got a kick out of this. I've been watching early MASH episodes and started noticing McLean Stevenson wearing what appears to be a Submariner.

Very true - at the time of the Korean War... but when the series was filmed, Subs certainly were available...

I started watching that show in the 90's because of late night re-runs and loved it. Afterwards I discovered the movie and liked it even more.

Nice catch by the way!

Now you have to get the novel that started it all. It's a good read.

Novel, movie, and series were all excellent anti-war fodder, great thought provoking media. They came in that order as well.

They where indeed. Serie is from the 70's (if i'm right). First Sub was introduced in the 50's

Yea I'm enjoying watching the show, it's been years since I last watched it. Here's another shot. I'm not sure what reference it is but I've seen it in just about every episode of season 1.

Bringing this up again.
Saw McLean on a 1981 episode of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
McLean appeared to be wearing a gold Submariner in that episode.

I've started watching the show again from the beginning.I've noticed that Colonel Blake has worn 3 different rolexes, that I've noticed. Pepsi, Submariner and I think a gold Sub... or president. I'll keep looking...

To validate your point further, I think modern TV/Movies try much harder to be period-correct than when M*A*S*H was filmed.

The ones with the original cast are the best, by far. McLean Stevenson simply can't be beat. Major Burns and Capt McIntyre completely rounded out that original cast. Lightning in a bottle. Can't watch the ones with David Ogden Stiers.

Oh man. I could not disagree more. Colonel Potter and BJ are great. And even the actor who played Frank Burns found the character annoying. That’s why he quit.

As far as the Sub, is it possible that since the sub was first released in 1953, one could have been in theater at the end of the Korean War?
