Aquanaut 5167 VS AP RO 15450ST
What would your pick be?
Though I love the Nautilus, it is way too pricey for me. I am looking to make up my mind for the next purchase and still undecided. I know one down side about the AP is that is is very non durable(scratches very easily), which will sort of put me off from wearing it as a daily watch for any and every occasion. Is this the same case with the Aquanaut? I do have small wrists at 6.25". How would you say the Aquanaut would wear? I have yet to find it in stock at my AD to try it on. Of these two, which would be your pick? |

Do not settle - save and get the nautilus. I have had to make the same decision and went for PP 5167. For me PP is a more classy brand that retains its value well which helps when you spending this sort of money on a watch.

It's not just that it is much pricier. I also feel the Aquanaut is more of a casual watch, which definitely fits my life style more than the nautilus, which comes across as dressier to me. How durable is your 5167? |

For sure, save for the 5167.

I've been wearing this Aquanaut daily for 2 years. Think it held up pretty well save for some hairline scratches on the bezel and also on the mirror polished clasp.

I definitely think it is holding up great for an everyday watch of 2 years. Seen a friend's 9 month AP that looks worse than that, and not a daily wearer either. |

No question 5167. And, if you ever decide on the nautilus, you can move the 5167 very easily.

PP 5167 is durable than the AP 15450. Like Anuj mentioned earlier 5167 holds its value very well compared to the AP 15450

I vote for the 5167. IMHO, the AP will be too big on your wrist. I think the 5167 would be perfect for you. You could always trade up to a Nautilus later. Good luck!

I would save for the Nautilus...it might seem like a longer wait but in the long run its cheaper to go with your heart. Trust me I been in that road before, u end up going back to what you really want it and of course it cost you more

To be fair the AP is also a nice watch - here it is on my wrist. I remember that the dial and bracelet is amazing.

For the OP: for sure better looks in my eyes than the Aquanaut. But if you can have just one watch then Aquanaut. Actually the AP and the Aquanaut would make an awesome combo Thats another idea, buy one 1st and save for the 2nd one. Just pick which one would suit your needs better at the moment

Is that the 15450? If they had the 37MM in a black or blue color, the decision would be harder. I prefer the darker Dial on the aquanaut I think. |

Yes its the 15450 - to be fair I thought it was a good idea to add the Patek first and if I want the AP later I can still get it. Just made sense to buy the more expensive piece first and it just seems a safer brand in terms of resale just in case.

Also I disagree with people who say Patek by a thousand miles etc. Lets have respect for other brands. If people want to make such statements then at least confirm them with some reasoning.
I respect all my watches and brands - each of them is special in their own way. They each have their weaknesses and strengths but that's what diversifies them from the next brand. |

Both great, to me it would depend on what you already have. Love both, but maybe get the Aqua in this case

I like both of these and believe you won't go wrong with either. I would give a slight preference for the AP between these two particular choices but so close… Part of my indecision is that i generally prefer having arabic numerals on the dial but i prefer the shape of the AP. Just my own preference. lWhile the Nautilus is a good choice as well-- I am not sure it is worth the wait-- in terms of saving up the funds. If you really prefer the Nautilus wait--- if in your mind the difference is not that great (in terms of your likes)-- go for it.

I've tried on both and I've got 6.5" wrists. The 15400 was too large IMO and the 15450 was a better fit. The 5164 was kind of small and I didn't like the rubber strap. If you don't wear a shirt and tie often the Aquanaut can be a daily watch, for me its for jeans / shorts kind of attire. The 15450 is on the dressy side. I decided on the 5711 and have one coming in some months. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Both!
But if I had to sell one it would be the 5167. It's farther away from the Genta original than the Royal Oak.

5167 no question for me. I love my aquanaut because it suits my casual lifestyle. I often feel the 15400 looks out of place both in casual and dress setting to a lesser extent. Confusing watch for me.

Generally prefer the RO line to the Aquanaut line, and especially in this case.
