Chronograph Question?

My 3572.50 is running about 11 seconds fast. I started the chronometer at zero seconds synched with Official US internet time clock. Now when I checked about ten hours later, the Speedy was still running about ten seconds fast however the chronometer second hand was running 5 seconds slow. Is this possible? I thought the two second hands would run at the same rate.

The chronograph timer and the regular timer are not 100% accurate with each other.

For more accurate chronograph movements, you really have to look at the column-wheel designs --El Primero, OMEGA 33XX, Rolex, etc.

As the second hand dial and the chronometer hand share the same escapement is it the gearing that is out of sync?

Yes. For most Chrono's the stopwatch function is an add on gear-train, but the main-train is the one that the escapement has been timed to for accuracy. That leaves the secondary train running on the "timing" of the main and that might not be optimum for it's gear cut and tolerances.
