Is it possible?

So, i'm looking for an older (early or mid 70's) preowned automatic Rolex date just in all stainless for under $1500. I'm not looking for one in perfect condition, just in wearable and sound condition. Is it possible to find one in this price range? I see quite a few on eBay but can't always tell in the photos the true condition. I would much rather buy from an RF friend then have the chance of being scammed on ebay. I'm new at this so bare with me.

Welcome to TRF!

Sure. I would say it's possible to find a preowned Rolex Date in that price range. But you should note that it might not have been serviced recently and cost of having it serviced would be around US $ 500.

Why not try finding one right here?

When you have written 15 posts and have been a member for 15 days, you can post a "WTB" (Want To Buy) thread in the Classifieds Section.

Best of luck!

I saw a nice Air King in that price range last night. I'll see if I can track it down for you.

Edit: Never mind... you're wanting a Datejust. Sorry.

That's a very nice looking TT. Good for sport, jeans, or with a suite.

It won't have white gold. It'll be all stainless... but the center will be polished. I'll keep looking for you.

Here's a Date that Cayce's selling. It's not a Datejust, but a Date. The size of the watch is a little smaller than the Datejust. It's a 34mm instead of a 36mm. This one's $1800.

Thank you for the warm reception Space Dweller and yes, I would love to find one right here if possible. I have been reading posts on this site for quite sometime and I would feel more comfortable buying from an RF member than from a crook on eBay

So the model you are looking for is a 1601 and those are going for around <$2K you will have to do your homework so as you get a good one. and good luck.

That is my reasoning for coming to RF. To get schooled and learn more so that I have a greater knowledge as to what im buying. Thank you I saw your 1601 in another post and it is exactly what I am looking for, in a lesser condition of course (my price range)

You might check on www.swissluxury.com or interwatches.com
It might be tough to find one in your price range, though, as these places usually recondition their watches and expect to command a higher price.

Yeah, im not looking for one in perfect condition. I plan on wearing mine so I dont mind a few flaws or scratches. I just want it to be a sound watch. I just picked up this 44mm Oris as a watch for daily wear. Not as nice as a rolex but definately a clean watch to match my attire.

Sorry for the stock photo, havent had a chance to take pics myself

I just passed up that same watch this weekend. And it was a quickset. It was $1300. I passed on it because I had just bought a Tudor Sub. I will check and see if he still has it. It was a very nice watch and in great shape. Jim

It shold be possible, I recently got one for just a little more than your budget as I wanted one in top condition.

Good luck in your search- it will be worth it in the end ;)

Just like the one in the pic you posted of Dan's watch it could be it's twin. I hated to walk away from it. I will see if he still has it and I will let you know; Jim
