Haven't been to Cleveland in a while. When I was there I journeyed a couple hours away to Cedar Point (my favorite amusement park in the United States). They also have a casino downtown and some bars in an area called the flats. Didn't go to the Rock n'roll hall of fame but I'll probably go if I'm ever back there.

The pro football hall of fame is in Canton, a short drive. University circle has some great museums.

Cedar point is roller coaster heaven if that's your thing. It's a few hours away but well worth it for any thrill seeking family.

The mistake by the lake.

Not really the Midwest or the rust belt. The highlights have been hit be previous posters. I have nothing much good to say about the place.

I lived there for 11 years...still own a home (rental unit until the market comes back...or until I have paid mortgage down enough to sell without losing). There's actually a lot to do downtown. Check out the restaurants/shops on E 4th street. The Flats are basically non-existent and now people go to "warehouse district" on W 6th St. Maybe go to a concert? There's also the Science Center which is right by the R&R HOF.

Some restaurants I miss: Angelo's Pizza in Lakewood (10 minutes from downtown), Melt- also in Lakewood. The bowling alley on E 4th could also be fun for the family.

Please try to see the good things about the city rather than the bad. Sometimes people are surprised and say it's "not that bad". Let me know your experience.

Don't know the ages of your kids or if it's the kind of thing they'd even be into but the Great Lakes Science center is right around the corner from the Rock & Roll HOF.

Visit Lebron and tell him how much better Kobe is. Then ask him why he shot 30% in the finals.
