1675 GMT Bracelets
Hello all,
I'm looking to find a new bracelet for my 1675. Unfortunately after 40 years of service the serial number can't really be read but I have what is left of the original bracelet and it was dated 1967. The watch came with a oyster but I've been wearing an aftermarket jubilee for 20 years now and I'm quite fond of the feel of this bracelet but I would like to get an original oyster if I can find one. I found a chart which shows ref and end link numbers for this watch and I was wondering if anyone knows what the differences are. 7206 with 58's, 7836 with 280's, 78360 with 580's and of course 62510h with 550's, the last being the jubilee. The original bracelet was of the rivet design and ideally I'd like to find one of those but would probably still wear the watch on a jubilee. I’ve seen some bracelets that have a different design on the inside of the clasp, mine looks like the current Rolex script. Were some of these bands American made? Mine being from 1967 with the script logo, would that mean my watch was not made for the American market So if anyone could clear up all these different bracelet options and perhaps any advice on which one is the proper one and where I might find one. Thanks all Ron

If you want a riveted Oyster bracelet for the 1675, you would want to go for the 7206 bracelet. You might have a hard time finding one, though, so I would opt for the 78360.
The chart you refer to is probably this one? (Chart from my Photobucket; source unknown).

Original on you watch would have been a 7206 with 58s (maybe 80s).
7836 with 280s was a latter folded link, And 78360 with 580s is a current service replacement. |

Interestly enough I bought a 1967 GMT 1675 from the original owners son that came with an expanding link rivit Oyster bracelet but it is a 6636 with 80 which I believe is more akin to a sub etc
The owners son told me that the watch 'had always the *springy* bracelet since new' as he could remember playing with it as a child but later on his father wore the GMT on a strap as he found it more comfortable that way. I agree with what Mike says 100% as always.

If memory serves the stretch bracelet was the 6636 --an option used on the Submariner and the GMT. |
