175th Anniversary watch on Sotheby's auction

The 5975G is up for auction at the Nov 10 Geneva Sotheby auction. It is one of the last watches listed in the Auction catalog.

http://www.sothebys.com/pdf/2015/GE1504A/index.html

I know several pieces from the 175th Anniversary Edition have been available for sale on ebay and from other re-sellers. But this may be the first one up for sale at a major auction house.

nah, this is number 3

1 rose gold and one white gold have already been auctioned

so much for being a "select client"

I am pretty sure that Patek will look at the watches to find out who sold them and which AD they came from.
Especially since the auction is in Geneva.

agree,
the only way you could be safe is if you own a 5070… oh wait, you're good

I'm thinking they really don't care.

The mystique of the brand is unable to endure in the new web based world, it seems to me the company's gears have been firmly shifted to sales, marketing and return. The only persons who remain caring about appreciation are the customers and they are slow to see the truth.

175th Anniversary watch on Sotheby's auction

Just looked on eBay for a 5575 and only saw one for sale. It was a "reasonable" $112K!

I haven't followed all the auctions, but do you remember what the final hammer prices for the 5975G and 5975R were at those auctions?

The US list price was $67K USD, but the list price varied across different countries around the world.

As for sellers on C24, we know that many of theses "dealers" don't have the watch in their possesson, but work through their network of dealers to obtain the watch once they find a suitable buyer.

Also the final allocation of the 175th Anniversary watches relied heavily on the individual AD's discretion as Patek Geneva nor the local Patek distributor (e.g. Henri Stern in NYC) do not know the individual clients well. So I am sure many of these pieces "leaked" through to re-sellers (or gray dealers if you want to call them that) and many ADs knew that already. But since the ADs get so much business via these re-sellers, for them it was just another business transaction. If someone has more accurate information, please correct my assumption as I am neither a Patek insider or a reseller.

That's exactly what those guys on C24 do

Around $110k - not much difference between R and G

Rose slightly higher than white gold

I think....
