Off to Bienne...
I sent my Seamaster to Bienne today. I have heard that the Swiss service centers are much better to deal with than the ones here in the USA (I also thought it would be more fun sending it to its "home".)
It cost me $38.00 and change for express with insurance. It is supposed to be there in 4 business days. I asked them for some Omega "goodies" in my request letter, we will see what I get After they get the watch, service it and return it I will write a brief review of the whole process. |

So, what is the process using the Bienne service centre? Do you contact them first, get some sort of RMA number then ship it off?

I got a nice reply giving instructions for sending the watch to Bienne. Here is the response: We thank you for your message informing us that your OMEGA Seamaster watch needs to be serviced. It is difficult for us to give you the cost of a repair without having first examined your watch. Nevertheless, you will find in our website a repair price list (recommended retail prices in swiss francs): http://www.omega.ch/index.php?id=390 We would like to propose the two following options for repairing your watch: 1. U.S.A. We suggest that you send in your watch to our Customer Service in the U.S.A.: The Swatch Group (US) Inc. Omega Division / SG Customer Service 55 Metro Way Suite # 1 Secaucus, NJ 07094-1905 USA Phone: +877 839 5224 Fax: +201 558 5099 E-mail: sgcst@swatchgroup.com 2. Switzerland We suggest that you send in your watch to our Customer Service in Switzerland: OMEGA Ltd Customer Service Rue Staempfli 96 2500 Bienne 4 Switzerland Phone: +4132 343 9561 Fax: +4132 343 9855 The parcel should be sent by registered and insured mail, together with a "certificate of registration" form no CF 4455, which can be obtained at any Customs Office, to avoid difficulties upon the re-importation to your country. Please make sure that your parcel is clearly marked "watch for repair/customs clearing by receiver in Bienne, Switzerland". Upon receipt of your watch, our technicians will examine it very closely and we shall submit you our report with all relevant details. Please be assured that we shall accord special attention to your Omega watch. Awaiting your consignment we remain, with kind regards, Maria Mastrodonato INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMER CARE Ω OMEGA SA RUE STAEMPFLI 96 2500 BIENNE 4 SWITZERLAND aftersales@omega.ch www.omegawatches.com I took the watch (in the original box) to my local post office and told them I wanted to send it to Switzerland. It was sort of difficult to get it done the exact way Omega wanted it done but I feel confident that it will get there. I showed the email to the clerk and I ended up sending it international express with insurance. I DID NOT use the customs form mentioned in the email, (the postal clerk had never heard of it). I put the entire box in one of those weather proof envelopes and off I went. I have a tracking number and it left the US today. |

John Holbrook on his forum did an excellent job of describing how he sent his Omega to Switz, the process and outcome. I wish I had sent my GMT Seamaster which took four months to get serviced here in good old USA.
