I stayed up tonight to watch the two PCs change. The 5940G changed just like it did on any other last day of the month. Smooth dial advance with a small click just after midnight. It is still impressive to think that that movement was set into place 4 long years ago.

The 5159r started its change as it usually does with the date hand starting to advance toward the 31st as it does on 28, 29, and 30 month days. Right at midnight, the date snapped in an instant over to the first as the day window went to Tuesday. It happened so fast that I do not think a video would have recorded it. Would need a high speed camera to see the date hand jump. It is really quick. I did notice that there was a slightly more substantial click when it turned this time. A little more than usual. Again, 4 years in the making for that motion to finally be executed.

Here are the before and after midnight photos of the 5159r.

Next event will be midnight on December 31st when the quarter window will jump to I, the first quarter.

On the 5270, the date indicator moved from 29 to 31 some time before midnight. Then the Mon slowly moved to Tues and switched completely at midnight. Then somewhere between 12:10 and 12:20am, the day moved from 31 to 1 and the month switched to March. So it appears the changes happened in stages on the 5270.

Thanks, Neil!

This now has been on my wrist regularly throughout the week (3-4 days per week) while at the office. It's extremely comfortable and enjoyable to look at during the day!

And yes, it's been working perfectly ever since. I actually let it wind down last week, which was the first time I let it stop since I opened the seal. I then reset the whole calendar again, and it's continued to work as expected. Fingers remain crossed!
