Thoughts: DSOTM & diamonds

Got called up by my local boutique to see their new DSOTM with the diamond bezel and diamond markers.

As good luck would have it - I had my original DSOTM on so could photo the two side by side.

What do you folks think?

FWIW - I think the diamonds would be better suited to the Grey with the platinum face. But you can't buy what they don't make.

I liked the satin croc strap and deployment clasp.

To each their own but the diamond version does not appeal to me.

Diamond version isn't bad but i would stick to the original. If you want a diamond bezel watch i would look into a rolex and putting a diamond aftermarket bezel on it.

Yours is better. Buy the gator strap and deployant buckle though.

I love it. Has been thinking either diamond dark side or vintage dark side. Tachymeter scale is classic bezel but why not change to diamond bezel when not many people use it in real life.

I do not like the diamonds with this watch. I do like the black alligator strap. Dresses up the watch.

Took my Grey back for a comparison today.

The Grey remains my favourite Speedy - even when sat next to another twice the price!

Have ordered the croc strap and deployment in the belief that I'll then use my DSOTM more often - I'm in suits five days a week.

Trust me once you get that strap on the dsotm you will appreciate it much more. The Cordova strap just cheapens the watch. I wear mine far more now. It will be much more classier now almost like a new watch. I still find the dsotm more interesting and sexier but it would be nice to own both.

Brief update:

I appreciate customisations can be divisive.

I wanted to share what can be done with a little imagination and perseverance.

This is the black ceramic face with diamond markers fitted to an original DSOTM. Glad to keep the original tachymetre which is a hallmark of the Speedmaster.

Clearly it won't glow in the dark as well as the original but it certainly sparkles a lot more in daylight.

Am very grateful that Omega were able to accommodate my persistent requests and I couldn't be happier with the unique result.

The next step will be to fit the black croc strap and ceramic deployant.

WOW - Very nice and very unique. I like it. In fact I love it. Subtle and classy but frankly I'm amazed that Omega would even sell you the dial on its own and even more amazed they would fit it (if they did). Suppose you're not going to tell how much the dial set you back? This watch is next on my list and I like to know my options More pics required

I didn't know Omega had that as an option. I like it but do still prefer the original

I guess diamonds for men's watches are more popular in England and Europe.

I like your customized version better. It breaks up the watch and is truly unique. That is exactly what I would have done. Good call on the alligator strap, too.

From a distance it looks just like a regular DSOTM...
