AP Rose Gold Discolouration

I keep my watches in pristine condition and keep all kind of chemicals away and even use cologne before putting them on. But AP rose gold has started to slightly discolour/tarnish on left side of the AP logo on the buckle. There is a tiny minute spot starting to appear close to one of the lugs this is freakin irritating as I'm super anal in keepin and storing my watches. Anyone has the same issue with AP rose gold or if someone can guide about chemical composition of the rose gold might have this attribute of getting discoloured or tarnished as they age. I have tried to clean it softly and gently with soap water and toothbrush but it's still there. Looking forward to the excellent help and advice courtesy of this exemplary forum.

Urooj

What reference is this and can we get a pic of the lug? Sorry to hear this my friend. Have seen this on vintage models but very surprised if this is a new model

It's the 44mm novelty RG. The lug has similar discolouration but it's barely noticeable through the camera lens but same as on the buckle. Yeah it is disturbing as we speak of avant grade haute horology and impeccable unparallel overall standards.

an older rubberclad in RG compared to my newer 44 novelty in RG looks darker and duller. unless you polish it i'm sure it's just part of the natural process since Copper? i believe is added to the gold to give it the rose gold color.

Mine (26400RO) had the same issue, but not on the buckle. Noticed changed color around the pushers after wearing it for 3 to 4 months.

Encountered on the non pusher side of my 26401.
Checked with AP service centre. They said it's normal and it usually depends on persons wrists , perspiration , salt, alkaline levels.

the sides of my 26401 also have spotting. as confirmed by APSC, they cited humidity, salt content, prespiration all have contributing factors. they did suggest using something to remove it. it just can't bring to my mind. it wasn't sure if it was makeup remover or nail polish remover (i doubt it was the nail polish) to clean them over....

@zymol my Hublot rose gold aero bang my daily beater didn't even have similar stains. My AP is my weekend watch or evening special occasion watch. It stored in a perfect cool place and wrapped in soft protective layers of watch cloths while being stored so I really look after my AP's and they don't go near any salt water or any such activity where they will be drenched in my sweat. Can you ask APSC again what solution where they suggesting if possible?

I'm not a metalurgist, but if there is a lot of copper in it to give it its rose color, I do know that with Bronze (CuSn8) watches, lemon juice will remove the patina/oxidation. You might try a drop on it to see.

YMMV and you might want to try it on the inside of the buckle first. No warranty express or implied with this technique. I have no idea if it would work, but it does on bronze so who knows. Good luck!

Sorry been busy. It was denatured alcohol.
Those used to clean jewellery.
They did warn to test out on small area as the products in the mkt could be too strong or unknown effects.
