Looking for a cheap dress watch

My budget is a bit stingy lately, so is there a good brand with quality as close to Baume & Mercier, Raymond Weil or Frederique Constant under $300?

For that price point you may be able to get a Raymond Weil if not a Seiko would be a good choice too.

Hard to beat Seiko for value for money and sheer range of models too.
Used Swiss watches can be great value too like Longines or Tissot.
Some great styles there.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking for a 40mm steel frame, black face, black band with some complications. Maybe I should wait a month and up my budget.

Seiko, Orient and Tissot are great suggestions. Wondering if there's any other brands I overlooked. I think there's also Certina.

I picked this one up as a Valentines gift for myself Lol...I want to buy a grand Seiko and this one looked somewhat similar although of course the quality is the same so I bought it as a prequel

This one is about $600,automatic Seiko movement 24 jewels R36 day date and sapphire crystal even made in Japan a great value from Seiko

For around $500 or so you could get a
Debaufre which essentially is Steinhart from Germany
but Swiss made ... They had to change the
Name to come to the USA a few years back because
of copyright issues.

You could get an ocean 1 divers or GMT 1 pre owned ...
Both have ETA Swiss mechanical movements ...
Very nice watches for the money and they use 316L steel
for the case and bracelet which is what Rolex used before
904L if I'm correct ...

I would argue Seiko R36 is a better movement then the ETA equivalent

I have a Hamilton Thin-o-matic that's nice - my only leather strap watch. Quality is higher than I expected for a reasonable price. Of course, you can't go wrong with a Seiko, either.

If it's truly dressy, then no watch is an option as well.

Hamilton Viewmatic or SARB 033 would be a good choice

I would say the Cocktail Time Seiko above as well. I'd switch out the cheap strap for a gator or calf tho.

But if black dial is a must - I'd get the Hamilton.
