Icon5 Why does this web site have such addictive properties?

Maybe it's just me, but let me put this out there . . . I am a new TRF member and I'm finding this web site very compelling. So let me ask you, Rolex watches, though admittedly great, are inanimate objects. I don't think they alone have the power to bring all of us together, and keep us together. Do you have a theory regarding what other variables may be operating here? Let's hear it . . .

I've been addicted to Rolexes for as long as I can remember. When I found this site, I realized that I wasn't the only one who had this great addiction !

There really are some incredible people on this forum. My day is not complete without checking in to TRF! I feel like I've made some wonderful friends here who share a great passion.....it's most definitely addictive!!

Why is this site addictive? Sorry, I don't know. I wish I did.

I came here initially to research my next watch purchase. Little did I know the mods put something special in the Kool-aid!

I have been into watches for as long as I can remember. My grandfather was a watchmaker and my dad was in the wholesale jewelry biz, so I have been around watches for a long, long time. This is a great site along with a few others.

The addictive nature of TRF is rooted in the number of good natured personalities that abound here. Members share their insight into the world of Rolex, and life in general, with wit and compassion, these are rare qualities on the net.

Martin sums it up pretty well for me too.

The other side of things, according to my amateur psychological theory, is that we all (or most of us) have spent a considerable sum of money on something that 99.9% of people don't even notice. This forum gives us the chance to actively discuss our pet obsession with similarly sick-minded individuals "at last, someone who understands me!!"

Cheers from a self-certified WIS

Simple, Taffi, the people and the fact that no one is taking themselves too seriously. Also, when off topic, the ad-hominen arguments are avoided.

This is a great Rolex forum just as the Omega forum is on WUS, and for the same reasons.

I think you can get someone else to certify you if you go to Switzerland for 15 days and nights, and remain in five positions at three different temperatures.

My understanding is that this certification is from a licensed psychiatrist.

Everyone here is courteous, unlike other forums where 'newbies' are put through the ringer. I cannot remember the last thread I read where the mods hadn't contributed to the discussion as well.

Addictive?!?!?!?!

This place?!?!?!?

First I've heard of that. I mean I'm only here a solid 4 hours a day here. I've only bought two Rolex in less than 4 months!
