Brands that use no gold in their watches
So I recently found out that all modern Rolex watches (even SS models) have some gold in them (on the dial, the bezel, etc.). Gold is forbidden for me to wear for religious purposes so unfortunately, Rolex is now out of the picture.
Are there any brands out there around the price point as a Rolex that does not use any gold in their watches? If so, I would love to know! Thanks! |

I'm pretty sure you asked this exact same question on Watchuseek a million years ago. I doubt anything has changed - search for that thread.

Why buy something as expensive as a Rolex? Find something cheaper that you like. It would save all of us a ton of money if we were forbidden from wearing any gold!

Try checking get out Ceramic watches.
I am curious , I believe all cell phones have trace amounts of gold in them. Is it because it is not something that is worn that would make iit ok to keep on you? Good luck with your search |

You probably need to figure out why it is forbidden. Gold is used in all electronics for instance, integrated circuits are gold wired internally. The hands on watches are gold because it doesn't corrode. In both these examples gold is used for practical purposes and if you didn't know it was gold you would not have noticed. This is very different from wearing gold jewelry like a watch.
Is platinum allowed? That would be a way out of the dilemma, but could be seen as bending the rules of course. Oh, by the way, you will find trace amounts of gold in anything, like water, all metals etc. I am sure this is not what the rule is about. Just like you will find alcohol in almost everything edible and drinkable, fruit juices have around 0.5-0.7% alcohol content just by natural fermentation. |

Why try to understand the spirit and intent of a religious teaching when you can just go directly against that intent by being hyper literal about it?
Welp, guess this $100,000 watch is made out of something that didn't exist in the 7th century, so I can bling out with it as much as I like... |

Most watches have some amount of gold in them. it'll be very difficult to find one that has absolutely no gold. Good luck

Get the rolex. The SS models use white gold on the dial to keep the indicies from tarnishing, it's a feature. It's not there to look fancy, just as the gold circuits in your iPhone aren't meant to be fancy. Being this literal will ruin your life

The hands are white gold.
I can understand the OP's point and I respect his choice but I would make an exception for some white gold hands. |

This article has some info on a watch made in Saudi Arabia: http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/10/world/...aghdadi-watch/
But personally, these may be fine choices. Gotta love the image placement choice on the first one... |

If you search here there was a thread a while back that may have some useful info. I suppose a digital watch won't have gold on the dial, but not sure what precious metal, if any, might be in the circuitry.
