Icon4 Dilemma - help me out guys!

Hi guys,

Normally I wouldn't go to a forum for advice, but I have got to know a few of you and your such nice, insightful group of WISs that I thought it might work out.

In Melbourne it is the middle of winter, so very cold frosty mornings, I normally I ride a motorbike (see below).

So because it is so cold, and not very comfortable to ride to work on, I have been catching the train, which is OK, its a quick 15 min. journey to work, however I can't stand trains, so I have been changing my mind more often that I can count as to whether I buy a car or a new bike. My partner has a car that is fine, because when we go out together it is normally in her car, but as we live quite far away she finds it a hassle (understandable) to drive to my house and so on.

So do I buy a new car (see below) or I am toying with the idea of buying a new motorbike (the weather will get better soon and I will be able to enjoy this:)

So help me out, which should I get?

I should point out that both are affordable and both and something that I would love to get, but I can't get both, so I need some good arguments here, show me your inner debaters!

Get the superbike. It's an incredible machine - 180hp wrapped in 165 kg of sublime riding. Obviously, the BMW is much more practical, much more suited to your needs, and you already have a really, really fine Ducati. But that 1098......oh, man!

Thanks, Dick! Thats all I needed to hear, someone to say get the 1098! Haha, but your point on the practicality of the BMW is well noted.

Still need more arguments!

The 1098 is a sweeeeeeet bike Tough call. The car is much more practical.

You didn't mention if you were going to keep the 748 if you buy the BMW? If it were me, I'd buy the car if I were able to keep one motorcycle on hand.

If you can buy the car and keep the 748, then do it. If you can buy the car, sell the 748 and buy the 1098, yeah baby

Hi Paulie, thanks I did forget to mention, I can buy the BMW and keep the 748, which is fine, but then I can't get the 1098 for a couple of years probably more with the amount of watches I am buying.

I think I may have to keep the 748 with the BMW. Damn it was cold today!

Attila,

You're spot on about the bloody cold weather of late. If I was in your shoes I would have both. You need the bike for some great sunny trips down the Great Ocean Road or perhaps through the Black Spur when the weather's good. Watch out for the leaf litter and spots of black ice on corners. Also, some cars are notorious for cutting corners resulting on head on collisions.

We've been getting a few 'stupid' inexperienced motor cycle riders that have been going too hard through the Black Spur area that have contributed to our injury and fatality stats.

I used to ride and I loved going fast, but in the right conditions. After a serious accident on the Kew Boulevard where I almost killed myself I took up something safer, flying. Got my PPL.

Get the car, you will only regret it when you get beat by a 1098. If you get the bike, next winter you will regret the 1098 every day.
