Rolex Explorer II (Polar)

Hi all! New to the forum as I just purchased my first Rolex and am eager to learn more about the brand and my timepiece. The watch I splurged on is a White Face Explorer II circa 2002 Y Serial. The previous owner purchased it from Tourneau without the original box and papers. He did get a box from them, warranty card etc. and does have the purchase receipt but these are not Rolex documents. My question is what type of value does a Rolex lose without the original box and papers? I hope to at some point trade this watch for a Sub but i'm just not sure value wise what I have without the Original Documents.

Congrats! I'm thinking on this piece, without original paperwork, you may lose $100-$200

Congrats! It's a fine choice! You will enjoy it!

My guess is a couple of hundred dollars or so. No biggie.

Ok that's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I have to say that the more I wear it the more the idea of keeping it is growing on me. I have always loved the Sub but the White of this Explorer seems pretty universal for any attire.

I have both a TT sub and an EXP II polar. My opinion is that the EXP II is much more comfortable to wear. But, as that is highly subjective, others may feel differently. Congrats on a great timepiece!!

If you want to pick up a box and manuals, it's a bit of a challenge to find the right ones but not insurmountable. It will probably cost the $ 150-200 or so if you try and piece it together, if that's important to you.

Depends on the buyer and what value they place on it. May help a little that you have the receipt.

Great choice!!!!! I've debating on adding a "white face" or lighter face to Switch with my Explorer ii black face. I'm debating on Yachtmaster now or Explorer polar. The other problem is I can't get the sub date out of my head either. Ohhhhhhhh first world problems!!!! Wear the watch in good health and enjoy it. Mine makes me smile lol.

You can't wear the packaging and it would only add a bit of value if you sold the watch which is unlikely since the Explorer II is such a great choice!
Congrats and enjoy it!

Great watch- much more comfortable than the SubC I own, and gets a lot more wrist time. Easy to read, and the white face is really clean looking.

Agreed. I own an older sub and fell the same way. The exp II might be my most comfortable watch.
