Flip GMT Coke for GMT-C?

i currently have a gmt coke and have been contemplating flipping for a gmt-c. I already own a datejust and cartier and plan to purchase a Daytona later this year (grail watch for me.) However, the gmt has always had a special place in my heart and its a very useful complication for me since i travel extensively So i definitely want a GMT in my collection.

The coke was my first Rolex but i dont have an allegiance to it where im against flipping, just curious from your perspective if its worth it and from you gmt-c owners out there how do you feel about your watch (esp if you upgraded from a coke or pepsi)

(I know its a very personal choice but curious your thoughts as i value this forums opinion.)

I wouldn't get rid of that Coke but that's just me. It's such an iconic watch plus it's your first.

I wouldn't either plus it's your first Rolex. I regret flipping my first Rolex-datejust. The first one is special

Not for me too...the Coke 16710 is an awesome piece...

Keep dreaming on the Daytona until it arrives...the Daytona will keep you looking forward while you enjoy the Coke, DJ and Cartier.

I have just flipped my 16710 coke towards a LVC. I asked the question on here around Christmas time and the overall opinion was to keep the Coke. It was my first from 1997 and I always said I would never let it go. I held off for 3 months to see how I felt and in the end I decided to go with the LVC.

Although I did have some attachment to the Coke I just never wore it always going with the more modern pieces in my collection SUB C 114060 and BLNR.
No regrets from me but it's only been 3 weeks. My advice would be to give yourself plenty of time to make sure you are 100% sure if you do decide to flip

I would actually choose my GMTII-C over the 16710 just because it is one of my absolute favorite references. It's my daily driver.

Although it is not a diver, I was happy that I was able to consolidate several other pieces that I had in my collection that I felt were aesthetically similar (SD4K, SubC, BLNR) - it gives m the same visual pleasure that the divers gave me, with the benefit of having the additional GMT complication (which I use heavily).

If you have no allegiance to it, I would depending on how much cash, if any is involved with the deal. I think they wear quite differently. The GMT Master II all black bezel is my favorite in that range.

I would keep the 16710. Such an iconic watch. Save for the GMT-c and buy it later.

Sometime's we do what we gotta do. I sold one earlier this year. Do i regret it? Yep. But i wanted to be a one watch guy and felt like i was slowly wearing it out from the daily grind (stretch in bracelet etc).

Not in a million years. Have you seen how nice and in proportion your case is? Good luck. Cheers.

since you'll be getting a ceramic with new clasp and PCLs, i'd consider keeping what you have for more variety (plus the option to easily switch inserts).

if you still want the GMTIIc after picking up the new daytona-c, go for it then.

I wouldn't. My 16710 is a coke also, and I really love that watch. I have a set of inserts so I can change the look now and then. I currently sport a black insert.

The 16710 is a beautiful classic. I like the six digit GMTs, also. I hope to get a BLNR someday, but even then I wouldn't part with my 16710.

Even people who change watches often like me, have regretted parting with their first Rolex. I did not think that I would regret it but I did/do

If I had started with a 16710, I'd have kept it. Get some inserts and call it a day. Now if you want gold...

I say keep and add if you can. Especially because the coke is not easy to find if you regret.

The GMTc is my first Rolex. However I've never stopped thinking about getting a Coke ever since I saw it in person.

That's a big no, sir!

Given the opportunity to have either my gmtiic or a five digit reference gmtii, I'd be all over that coke or pepsi

I keep checking back in to see how this is going, and am having a tough time not voting "NO" again!

The 5 digit case shape is far better, to my eye, as is the bracelet to case transition. The bezel on the Coke is beautiful, with just enough pop to it to catch the eye. I don't like the font on the ceramics.

If I find an NOS Z 16710, it's going into my collection with my two Z Sub-dates. They're not quite unicorns yet but they are getting there.

(I'd wear it, too. No safe queens here.)

16710. Classic. They will not make them like that anymore. :(
