More help with an old gold watch, Fix or Flog

Our son loves retro watches and has wanted a Gold Omega for a few years but at 16 in full time education with a Zero hours contract as a Life Guard the £700 price tag might as well be £7 million.
So me be a regular at the local car boot sale buys a nice vintage style watch for £1 as the winder is missing, glasses on had a good look at it and its 9ct Gold!
So Son loves it and I give it to him as he hopes to get it repaired, Local place says £80 for repair and service but can't get the bits, He says its worth fixing or it as is for £150.
Another place has the bits in stock £175 + £25 for a strap, says it will come back like new polished new glass and serviced keeping time, he thinks its worth £350 fixed possibly more, he was very helpful and stripped its case weighed it and its worth £80 scrap, he offered £90 for it as he showed us a customers watch thats the same make but slightly different that needs a new case.
Its a 1965 ish Smiths Astral with no date, its engraved on the back for long service at Leyland Motors
So
Should he scrap it?
Should he pay £200 and have it repaired.
Remember he can't buy a working gold watch of the same quality for £200.And its always going to be worth £80ish in scrap.
On The auction site they are going for £180+ depending on condition one web site is asking £550
I did ring another High end repair man who said its not worth repairing?
Its the same as this , same 17 jewelled movement

Its in for repair! I will report back in 4-6 weeks. I managed to find a very good and helpful repair min less than 1 mile from me.
Looking at the going rate for the repair he is reasonably priced too.
