Yes, selling domain names are legal. But the new owner probably can not sell Rolex watches or Rolex related products without running into legal trouble with Rolex. Rolex would need to be informed that Rolex/Rolex related products are being sold on the site beforehand as well as Rolex receiving a cut of the profits from the site. But if the owner of ROLEXWRIST.com just wanted to make an information site about Rolex watches, such as the TRF then there are no legal implications.

I reported it and let's see what E-Bay does with it since it is a trademarked name. I think it is not legal since it has the Rolex name in it.

A few years ago I had made a web site www.myrolexS.com (when retired wanted to write about all of my rolex watches) well, Rolex lawyers wrote me and explained why I could not use that name (something about squatters etc.).
I told them that it had cost me $1700 dollars ...blah, blah, blah and I will pass it on to them if they paid my cost. Guess what ..?? They send me a cheque...and I loved it. |
