Crown seating 116610LN.

My sub has just been back to the RSC for an in warranty repair due to rough winding. The winding is now fine but I think the crown now doesn't sit as low and flush with the case as it did before. Please see this photo, the crown is screwed down as tight as it will go but there's a visible gap. What do you think, can anybody else confirm whether or not it should be further in?

I had the same issue and popped in to RSC in London.

They tested the watch and confirmed all ok, the crown seats on the "O" rings not the case side.

Your watch is fine and all the crown needs is screwing down finger tight and no metal to metal contact as the seal is in the crown to seal the crown tube.If you have metal to metal case contact then for sure you have damaged the seal in the crown, and you magnification is fine and normal.

Thank you Peter, after a slightly mixed response that's put my mind at rest...

I'm surprised to read that apparently this is good as is. I have the same watch and it sits pretty close to the case just like your GMT.

If this was my watch it would leave a bad taste in my mouth. Isn't Rolex about perfection? Or is it all just cool-aid?

The screw crown prevents adjustment operation when tightened - what more do you want it to do?

The crown seal doesn't do much to keep the water out.

The internal seals do that job.

. . .
If there is not a gap between the case and bottom of the crown, it's broke.

The crown does not seal to, or even contact, the top of the case if it is properly installed.

The top of the tube snugs up against the inner gasket at the top of the crown, just like a jar of pickles. If the crown contacts the case, the gasket cannot seal against the top of the tube.
