Contrary to popular belief Ireland had one of the best watchmaking schools outside Switzerland, The Irish Swiss Institute of Horology. It was opened in the early 1960s and trained watchmakers for the industry until it closed in about 2000.

It was responsible for training a lot of watchmakers who are now senior within the industry, within the brands all over the world and trained the McGonigle brothers among others.

There should be no shortage of skills however how many of the graduates are still working in Ireland and how many are Rolex accredited is another question.

This is true, a few of the top guys in Rolex UK are Irish. Not that helps people in Ireland.

Is stumbled upon this website http://www.thevintagewatch.net/ I don't know the guy but I can tell from his workshop and equipment he is very professional. Maybe worth a shout.
