AD or Trusted seller on here?
Just curious for you members who have been on here a while and know who the trusted sellers are on here why go to an AD when you KNOW you can get a BNIB rolex on here for a big discount compared to a local AD?
I have purchased 2 watches from forums, but last week I decided to treat myself and purchase a Rolex from an AD. My reason was because I plan on keeping this model forever and it was an impulse buy, a week later and I'm looking on here and see I could of saved 2500-3000. |

That's a big difference! If you can negotiate a good deal at an AD such that it's close to a trusted seller then it can be nice to have the AD experience, after sales support if needed, and get to walk out with a new watch on. To me that's worth a few hundred....if the difference is more than that I'd go trusted seller.
Good deals can be had at ADs too, maybe not on every watch (depending on the AD) and maybe not effortlessly like a trusted seller, bit it can be found. |

I think for now on I will go with a trusted seller on here. My AD gave me a 5% discount, and she said they would give more but since it was a SS sport watch (sea dweller) but still it was 10,400. If I took the time and found a trusted seller on here I'm sure I could of saved 1500-2000, so for now on here will be where I get the rest of my collection.

Some pieces are heavier discounted than others via trusted sellers here.... You have to pick your battles. It's important imo to build a good relationship with ad also.... That's how I got my 116500 rather quickly.

Depends on the model.
I got a lightly used 116619 from a trusted seller and saved over $6,000 from the cost of a new one from the AD. I bought a new DD40 from the AD for not too much above a trusted seller price and was able to do 12 months 0% financing for half of the cost and saved on tax by shipping to a relative. My next purchase will be a 116500 (which will actually be bought by a sibling using my spot in line) from the AD which will be at MSRP instead of the $16k+ online price. |

I usually give AD first shot based on a price I'm comfortable with. if they can do it, I buy there...if not, I go to other sources. They are aware and it works well

Tried AD, yet the savings was too small compared to trusted seller. Gave AD a chance at least.

Seller here, you got first class treatment. Unlike those impatient and pushy salesman in the store.

I can't imagine paying AD prices especially with 10% tax here. I saved 30% w/ Takuya. No brainer.

Trusted seller, I've never found an AD that could compete with the prices. Also if you have something to trade trusted sellers will usually give you better value for it.

For me it is all about the deal. I have bought a lot from both over the years and have found to check with the TS and my AD. What I have found is that on SS models my AD is just a strong as the TS. On trades of SS models with a purchase of another SS model my AD beats the TS hands down. On PM models I have stopped checking with the AD as it is a standard 20-25% and they want nothing to do with a trade on a PM watch unless the figures are way off in their favor. I like to think that I am a informed consumer and will do my research.
