Help deciding
Hi guy's Im new to th forum and I need help deciding what rolex to get next. I have a SS no date clean submariner that I use everyday, but i need another watch to dress up, so Im deciding either on the TT GMT MASTER II or a TT pink gold and SS turn o graph, with black face.

I prefer the TOG as a dress watch.

I like the GMT, it is more sporty - depends on where you intend to wear it. If you wear a suit to work everyday, might suggest a TOG.

I can't really see either watch being really dressed up, but GMT gets my vote by default.

Both are great watches....
After trying both on, which one smiled at you?

If I'm going to spend the kind of money for TT GMT-IIC then I rather buy a Daytona which beats both, IMHO.

If we're just talking about those two watches, I would go with the GMT (I actually just got one myself), but if you're specifically looking for a dress watch, the GMT is more sporty than dressy in my opinion. Since I got mine i've been wearing it every day and it's become my daily wearer. While it goes great with formal wear, I definately wouldn't call it a dress watch, I think the Turn-o-graph fits that description better than the GMT. I would also recommend the Platinum/SS Yacht Master, I still think that's one of the sharpest looking models out there, and I think it definately fits the description of a dress watch.

I guess the sensible choice is the TOG, the GMT would be a better buy but the pink gold in the TOG is more subtle than the yellow gold in the gmt, therefore more elegant IMHO. Id buy the daytona without thinking about it, It's my favourite rolex, but I want a TT rolex, besides Im saving up to buy the white gold, black and red face daytona in a couple of years. |

With these choices - GMT... Day Date would be my eventual watch. If dress up maybe consider a very nice Datejust. I would like to get a datejust...

Between those 2 I would have to pick the GMT bec. you get dressy and sporty. I'm not a big fan of the turn-o-graph. I would even pick a tt datejust over it...it's dressy and very classic. But if you can afford it, bump up to a tt daytona if you can get a good discount..it's alot more but if you don't plan to get anymore watches it's well worth it bec. it will be something that you hold onto for +10yrs?

The GMT-IIC is my favorite Rolex and mine is a TT like the one you're looking at.
Unlike many others here though, I have don't think it an ideal dress watch. Personal opinion. So, I'd either buy it and think of it as a great travel watch (dual TZ etc) or opt for something else. Have you thought about a pure dress watch? If you want a bracelet Rolex you have a number of options, but as my second watch, I'd opt for a leather strapped model and maybe from another maker. Good luck and let us know what you buy. |

GMT for me. Another factor(for me at least) would be better resale value.

What I really love about the TOG is that pink gold, very subtle. what I love about the gmt is that its a rollex like ive never seen before, love the bezel. Ive been thinking about getting a SS daytona whith white dial, but I know that if I do that I wont wear my sub that much. I going crazy, because Im going to shell out a lot of money for the watch and beacuse of my location, If i regret my buy i cannot go out and sell it. my ad has both the tt gmt white and black face daytona and the TOG. Ive seen other brands and they dont seem to convince me at all. all though i did fall in love with the bvlgari calbro 303, tt rolex and daytona come before any other watch.

The ToG is a great watch but I consider that a little more dressy since it resembles the Date-Just. However the TT GMT can get away with a dress up or down. More versatile IMO but choose which one that smiles back at you. Good luck.

TOG would be my choice of those two for a dress watch. Both are pretty sporty though.
