very strange

this seller is advertising a matte dial sub-but has pictures of a gloss dial??
he never has answered my questions as to why..

The bezel insert appears genuine and so does the dial, but the matte finish on the dial is a new one on me. As far as I know, no Rolex matte dial with the marker surrounds were used for this watch. They should be glossy.

Err buddies...for this 16800...if the serial nos. fit the year of original Rolex production of around 1981...the watch can take a Matte Dial to begin with...instead of the current WG surround gloss Dial.

The current WG surround Gloss Dial...may appear to be Matte finish...because of the legendary issue with Glossy paint/lacquer defects that was synonymous with all WG Surround markers Gloss Dial by Rolex of that era...

The existing Dial's appearance of being Matte Finish is normally recognized phenomenon...but again Orchi would like to see that watch with its Original Matte Dial which is without the WG surround markers...

It would certainly compliment the watch's resale value n desirability...

I would agree with you there orchi-my issue is that the first picture posted is of a matte dial,then all the other pictures are of a gloss dial-so which one is for sale??
