Patek 5711: Incoming

As you all know from my previous post, I've been in the market for a 5711. I've been visiting AD's and building a relationship, often hearing the waitlist is 1-2 years. I put a deposit down at a local AD, with an anticipated wait of 1 year. I later on decided that I'll just put my name down at another AD just in case (no deposit required). I later changed my mind and wanted a 5712. After some luck, a different AD told me that a 5712 (blue dial) is coming in and would have my name on it if I wanted so of course I agreed and put down a deposit. I got a call from the AD that I did not place a deposit with this week. He told me he had a 5711 (blue dial) come in and asked if I wanted it. Of course I couldn't turn it down! Long story long (joke), I often read the forums for advice about wait times for certain watches etc. and often see some people getting lucky. This time it was me! Now I have a delimma: keep both the 5711 and 5712 blue dial?! I guess this is a great problem to have! Officially joined the Patek brotherhood!

I would ask the other AD if you can have your deposit back. Most will refund especially on a relatively easy to sell piece.

Live with both a little and flip one once you find your true love?

Keep both if you can. If not, wear both for a few months and see what gets more wrist time. Congrats!

Well I decided to get the 5711 after I had my 5712, like my AD says the 5711 is a must have, the 5712 with it's sub dials and moon phase can show that it is worth some money, the 5711 for a non wis is just a nice bracelet watch. Anyways huge congrats, I would keep both but you will decide after some time of wearing it, some prefer the 5711 but I prefer the 5712, though very cool to have both, redundant as hell, but I don't really care one bit...

Wow great luck indeed! Looks fantastic! All in all, keep which model you admire the most, but food for thought, you can flip the 5711 for a pretty tidy profit, the 5712 not so much. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd keep the 12 and sell the 11 for an instant couple of grand profit if that's tenable where you live.

The 5711 will pay for the additional cost of the 5712 won't it?

Thanks All! I'm thinking about letting the 5711 go since I love the moon phase on the 5712.

I'd keep the 5712 and let the 5711 go. Prices on both models s/h are solid (11>12). I really don't see the point of owning both, unless maybe one was a PM piece and the other steel.
