Anyone miss the date function on Speedy Pro?
I've lurked for some time on Omega forums, I wonder what you Speedy owners think of the Speedy with its lack of date.
I cud go with a Speedy model with auto movmnt and date, but to me, the Speedy Pro with black dial, manual movement hexalite crystal is the bedrock Speedy. But i use my date function on other watches at work and wud wonder if i'd regret not having the date after a while........ thoughts? SV |

Yup, the Speedy DOES have a date function
Just set the sweep hand as a pointer date to correspond on the seconds track to the day of the month. As today is the 12th, it's set at the 12 second mark. Advance it one second each day, and reset at the first of the month.
Easy to do, great legibility, and works great for me. |

I used to have a speedmaster pro, reduced size. Frankly, I did miss the date. I find myself needing a quick reminder of the date more often than a reminder of the time. Seems like the time is everywhere -- cell phones, computers, etc.
That said, the speedmaster pro is an iconic watch and one of my all time favorites. I no longer have my old speedmaster and I find myself wanting to get another one. |
